1. The total age of three kids in a family is 27 years. What will be the total of their ages after three years?

Total age of three kids = 27 years

After three years, the age of each kid will increase by 3.

So, the total age after three years = 27 + 3 × 3

Therefore, the total age of three kids after three years will be 36 years.

2. Find the product of all the numbers present on the calculator pad.

Numbers on the calculator pad = 0,1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9

Product of all these numbers = 0 × 1 × 2 × 3 × 4 × 5 × 6 × 7 × 8 × 9 = 0 {since the product of any number with 0 is also 0)

3. Jessi ran 12 laps every day for two weeks. How many laps did she run in all?

Number of laps ran by Jessi in a day = 12

Number of day = 2 weeks = 2 × 7 days = 14 days

Total laps run by Jessi in 2 weeks = 12 × 14 = 168

4. Simplify: 133 – 19 × 2 + 15

133 – 19 × 2 + 15

= 133 – 38 + 15

= 148 – 38

Therefore, 133 – 19 × 2 + 15 = 110.

5. Find the next term of the arithmetic sequence 177, 173, 169, 165,…

Given arithmetic sequence is:

177, 173, 169, 165,…

Here, 173 – 177 = -4

169 – 173 = -4

165 – 169 = -4

So, the next term = 165 – 4 = 161

6. Kamal’s annual income is Rs. 288000. His annual savings amount to Rs. 36000. What is his total yearly expenditure?

The annual income of Kamal = Rs. 288000

Annual savings = Rs. 36000

Total yearly expenditure of Kamal = Rs. 288000 – Rs. 36000 = Rs. 252000

7. Find the value of 45 ÷ 9 × 3 + 15 – 6

45 ÷ 9 × 3 + 15 – 6

= 5 × 3 + 15 – 6

= 15 + 15 – 6

= 30 – 6

Hence, the value of 45 ÷ 9 × 3 + 15 – 6 is 24.

8. Simplify the numerical expression: [36 ÷ (-9)] ÷ [(-24) ÷ 6]

[36 ÷ (-9)] ÷ [(-24) ÷ 6]

This can be written as:

= (36/-9) ÷ (-24/6)

= (-4) ÷ (-4)

Thus, [36 ÷ (-9)] ÷ [(-24) ÷ 6] = 1.

9. Find the missing number in the following: 7 – 24 ÷ 8 × m + 6 = 1

7 – 24 ÷ 8 × m + 6 = 1

7 – (24/8) × m + 6 = 1

7 – 3 × m + 6 = 1

13 – 3 × m = 1

⇒ 3 × m = 13 – 1

⇒ 3 × m = 12

Therefore, the missing number is 4.

10. Mehak bought 96 toys priced equally for Rs. 12960. The amount of Rs. 1015 is still left with him. Find the cost of each toy and the amount he had.

Number of toys Mehak bought = 96 toys

Cost of 96 toys = 12960

Cost of one toy = 12960/96 = 135

Amount left with him = 1015

Amount he gave = 12960

Amount he had initially = 12960 + 1015 = 13975

Thus, the cost of each toy was Rs. 135, and he had the amount of Rs. 13975.

When Russia launched its full-scale invasion, Ukraine's president is said to have turned down a US offer to be evacuated with the words: "I need ammunition, not a ride."

Two years on, Volodymyr Zelenskyy is still standing firm - but so too is his urgent need for weapons and ammunition, everything from bullets to fighter jets.

The UK and other Western allies rushed in support for the military during the first weeks of the war, with British and American anti-tank missiles playing a key role in enabling Ukrainian troops to fend off a Russian attempt to capture the capital Kyiv.

However, Western willingness to arm Ukraine has consistently lagged behind the requirement, in part because of concerns about giving too much capability and igniting a direct confrontation between NATO and Moscow - two nuclear-armed foes.

Those nerves have belatedly eased over time, helped by relentless lobbying by Mr Zelenskyy and an understanding that defending Ukraine is vital for wider European security.

As a result, Ukrainian commanders have received increasingly powerful weapons, from tanks and multiple rocket launchers to longer-range missiles and the promise of warplanes .

A bigger challenge now, though, is the West's capacity to keep delivering.

Decades of defence cuts in the UK and other European allies since the end of the Cold War, coupled with a reduction in physical production lines to manufacture new weapons and ammunition, mean that stockpiles in Europe in particular are running worryingly low .

Efforts are under way to revive what is known as the military industrial base but they are woefully slow compared to what the Russian side is doing.

It means his ability to rearm Russian forces is far greater than the West's ability to re-equip the Ukrainians, even though the combined strength of the economies of NATO's 31 - soon to be 32 - member states is some 25 times that of Russia.

Another major hazard is what direction the United States chooses to take.

There’s good news and bad news for Milwaukee Brewers fans The team re-signed their homegrown ace, but he’s unlikely to throw a pitch this season.

Brandon Woodruff, a two-time All-Star, agreed to stay in Milwaukee through at least 2025 according to an Associated Press release . The deal will pay him $2.5 million this season and $5 million next year. There is a mutual option for a $20 million salary for the 2026 season with a $10 million buyout. Altogether, the guarantee is at least $17.5 million and includes a full no-trade clause.

Immediately after his signing became official, the Brewers placed him on the 60-day injured list. He suffered a shoulder injury last season and underwent surgery in the fall, just as he reached free agency for the first time. He isn’t expected to pitch in 2024, which is undoubtedly the impetus for the backloaded two-year deal.

When healthy, Woodruff has been one of the better pitchers in MLB. He’s a two-time All-Star with a career ERA of 3.10 over seven seasons. He posted a 2.28 ERA and 0.82 WHIP over 11 starts in 2023. If he had remained healthy, he would’ve probably secured a free-agent contract worth at least $200 million.

While the deal has the potential to become a bargain for the Brewers next season, it doesn’t do much for their chances in 2024 other than spread good vibes for retaining a player they drafted in 2014 and developed in their minor-league system. The club won 92 games last year and will attempt to win back-to-back division titles for the first time in franchise history since 1981-1982.

Starting pitching has often been a strength for the club in recent seasons, but this year it’s an area of concern. They traded Corbin Burnes to the Baltimore Orioles in a head-scratching move for two younger players and a draft pick. He had been their most reliable pitcher last season with a 3.39 ERA and 200 strikeouts over 193 2/3 innings. He is due to become a free agent after the coming season, but they don’t have a replacement for his output on the staff this year, and the trade made them vulnerable in the NL Central .

Freddy Peralta is all that remains available of a formidable starting pitching trio. He started 30 games in 2023 and struck out 210 batters in 165 2/3 innings with a 3.86 ERA. He did surrender a career-high 26 home runs, but he becomes the new staff ace by default.

After Peralta, the rotation gets dicey. They retained left-hander Wade Miley on a one-year, $8.5 million deal early in the offseason. He had an excellent 3.14 ERA last season over 23 starts, but he’s now 37 years old and his 16.1% strikeout rate was the ninth-lowest in MLB (minimum 120 innings). They’ll also lean on Colin Rea, a 33-year-old coming off a season in which 23 home runs in 124 2/3 innings inflated his ERA to 4.55.

Jakob Junis is the biggest free-agent acquisition on their pitching staff. After years as a mediocre starting pitcher with the Kansas City Royals and San Francisco Giants, he had success in a multi-inning relief role last season by throwing his slider 62.5% of the time. The Brewers signed him to a one-year deal with a $7 million guarantee to convert him back into a starting pitcher, but it might be difficult to replicate his success in that role. Throwing a breaking ball on five out of every eight pitches doesn’t usually work when you have to face a lineup more than once.

Joe Ross, another free-agent signee, could force his way into the rotation mix as well. He hasn’t pitched in MLB since 2021 due to injuries, and even when he was healthy he had trouble fooling opposing hitters. Unless he reinvented himself while he was injured over the last two years, he isn’t the caliber of starting pitcher a team with playoff aspirations should lean on. He’ll vie for a swingman role with Aaron Ashby, a left-hander who didn’t pitch in MLB in 2023.

For Milwaukee to reach the playoffs again, they’ll need some of their younger pitchers to step up. That starts with DL Hall, who was part of the trade return from Baltimore for Burnes. The Orioles appeared to give up on his chances of making it as a starting pitcher, but he was successful in a relief role, striking out 23 batters in 19 1/3 innings with a 3.26 ERA last year. The Brewers want to give him another shot as a starting pitcher, and how well he takes to that job will be a determining factor in grading the trade.

Fellow left-hander Robert Gasser is ready to graduate from Triple-A after recording a 3.79 ERA in Nashville last season. However, he doesn’t have a useable changeup, which is an important prerequisite for lefty starting pitchers to get right-handed hitters out.

Their best pitching prospect is Jacob Misiorowski, but he carries relief risk due to unpolished command. He turns 22 on April 3 and only reached Double-A toward the end of last year, so he might not make it to Milwaukee until 2025.

Beyond Peralta, it’s a ragtag group of starters. Bringing Woodruff back into the fold is a positive commitment to the future, but he won’t help them in the present. Finding quality innings and starts will be the team’s greatest challenge in 2024.

There is often a relatively easy fix when this happens, so you can easily get back to what you were doing.

How to force quit an app on iPhone, iPad

Apple has a very simple solution for dealing with an unresponsive app on your iPhone and iPad. 

Here's what to do when an app stops responding:

  • If your device has a home button, double press that instead.
  • This will bring up a carousel of all the open windows on your device. 
  • Swipe the app you want to close. It will disappear from the carousel. 
  • Reopen the app.

If the troublesome app means you can't do anything on your phone, turn it off and then turn it back on. 

Force quit on Mac

When the spinning rainbow wheel appears on your computer, take solace in the fact there’s an easy way to force quit on your computer, too.  

First, click out of the unresponsive app. You can do this by switching to another app or clicking on your desktop.  

This changes your cursor from the rainbow wheel to the standard arrow.

There are three different ways you can force quit on your Mac: 

  • Click and hold on the app in the dock and click Force Quit. 
  • Click on the Apple icon in the top left corner of your screen and select Force Quit.
  • Press the Option + Command + Esc keys at the same time to bring up the Force Quit menu.

If none of these options remedy the problem or if the force quit menu won't open, restart your computer.
