The coronavirus pandemic has forced students and educators across all levels of education to rapidly adapt to online learning. The impact of this — and the developments required to make it work — could permanently change how education is delivered.

The COVID-19 pandemic has forced the world to engage in the ubiquitous use of virtual learning. And while online and distance learning has been used before to maintain continuity in education, such as in the aftermath of earthquakes 1 , the scale of the current crisis is unprecedented. Speculation has now also begun about what the lasting effects of this will be and what education may look like in the post-COVID era. For some, an immediate retreat to the traditions of the physical classroom is required. But for others, the forced shift to online education is a moment of change and a time to reimagine how education could be delivered 2 .

presentation about online education

Looking back

Online education has traditionally been viewed as an alternative pathway, one that is particularly well suited to adult learners seeking higher education opportunities. However, the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic has required educators and students across all levels of education to adapt quickly to virtual courses. (The term ‘emergency remote teaching’ was coined in the early stages of the pandemic to describe the temporary nature of this transition 3 .) In some cases, instruction shifted online, then returned to the physical classroom, and then shifted back online due to further surges in the rate of infection. In other cases, instruction was offered using a combination of remote delivery and face-to-face: that is, students can attend online or in person (referred to as the HyFlex model 4 ). In either case, instructors just had to figure out how to make it work, considering the affordances and constraints of the specific learning environment to create learning experiences that were feasible and effective.

The use of varied delivery modes does, in fact, have a long history in education. Mechanical (and then later electronic) teaching machines have provided individualized learning programmes since the 1950s and the work of B. F. Skinner 5 , who proposed using technology to walk individual learners through carefully designed sequences of instruction with immediate feedback indicating the accuracy of their response. Skinner’s notions formed the first formalized representations of programmed learning, or ‘designed’ learning experiences. Then, in the 1960s, Fred Keller developed a personalized system of instruction 6 , in which students first read assigned course materials on their own, followed by one-on-one assessment sessions with a tutor, gaining permission to move ahead only after demonstrating mastery of the instructional material. Occasional class meetings were held to discuss concepts, answer questions and provide opportunities for social interaction. A personalized system of instruction was designed on the premise that initial engagement with content could be done independently, then discussed and applied in the social context of a classroom.

These predecessors to contemporary online education leveraged key principles of instructional design — the systematic process of applying psychological principles of human learning to the creation of effective instructional solutions — to consider which methods (and their corresponding learning environments) would effectively engage students to attain the targeted learning outcomes. In other words, they considered what choices about the planning and implementation of the learning experience can lead to student success. Such early educational innovations laid the groundwork for contemporary virtual learning, which itself incorporates a variety of instructional approaches and combinations of delivery modes.

Online learning and the pandemic

Fast forward to 2020, and various further educational innovations have occurred to make the universal adoption of remote learning a possibility. One key challenge is access. Here, extensive problems remain, including the lack of Internet connectivity in some locations, especially rural ones, and the competing needs among family members for the use of home technology. However, creative solutions have emerged to provide students and families with the facilities and resources needed to engage in and successfully complete coursework 7 . For example, school buses have been used to provide mobile hotspots, and class packets have been sent by mail and instructional presentations aired on local public broadcasting stations. The year 2020 has also seen increased availability and adoption of electronic resources and activities that can now be integrated into online learning experiences. Synchronous online conferencing systems, such as Zoom and Google Meet, have allowed experts from anywhere in the world to join online classrooms 8 and have allowed presentations to be recorded for individual learners to watch at a time most convenient for them. Furthermore, the importance of hands-on, experiential learning has led to innovations such as virtual field trips and virtual labs 9 . A capacity to serve learners of all ages has thus now been effectively established, and the next generation of online education can move from an enterprise that largely serves adult learners and higher education to one that increasingly serves younger learners, in primary and secondary education and from ages 5 to 18.

The COVID-19 pandemic is also likely to have a lasting effect on lesson design. The constraints of the pandemic provided an opportunity for educators to consider new strategies to teach targeted concepts. Though rethinking of instructional approaches was forced and hurried, the experience has served as a rare chance to reconsider strategies that best facilitate learning within the affordances and constraints of the online context. In particular, greater variance in teaching and learning activities will continue to question the importance of ‘seat time’ as the standard on which educational credits are based 10 — lengthy Zoom sessions are seldom instructionally necessary and are not aligned with the psychological principles of how humans learn. Interaction is important for learning but forced interactions among students for the sake of interaction is neither motivating nor beneficial.

While the blurring of the lines between traditional and distance education has been noted for several decades 11 , the pandemic has quickly advanced the erasure of these boundaries. Less single mode, more multi-mode (and thus more educator choices) is becoming the norm due to enhanced infrastructure and developed skill sets that allow people to move across different delivery systems 12 . The well-established best practices of hybrid or blended teaching and learning 13 have served as a guide for new combinations of instructional delivery that have developed in response to the shift to virtual learning. The use of multiple delivery modes is likely to remain, and will be a feature employed with learners of all ages 14 , 15 . Future iterations of online education will no longer be bound to the traditions of single teaching modes, as educators can support pedagogical approaches from a menu of instructional delivery options, a mix that has been supported by previous generations of online educators 16 .

Also significant are the changes to how learning outcomes are determined in online settings. Many educators have altered the ways in which student achievement is measured, eliminating assignments and changing assessment strategies altogether 17 . Such alterations include determining learning through strategies that leverage the online delivery mode, such as interactive discussions, student-led teaching and the use of games to increase motivation and attention. Specific changes that are likely to continue include flexible or extended deadlines for assignment completion 18 , more student choice regarding measures of learning, and more authentic experiences that involve the meaningful application of newly learned skills and knowledge 19 , for example, team-based projects that involve multiple creative and social media tools in support of collaborative problem solving.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, technological and administrative systems for implementing online learning, and the infrastructure that supports its access and delivery, had to adapt quickly. While access remains a significant issue for many, extensive resources have been allocated and processes developed to connect learners with course activities and materials, to facilitate communication between instructors and students, and to manage the administration of online learning. Paths for greater access and opportunities to online education have now been forged, and there is a clear route for the next generation of adopters of online education.

Before the pandemic, the primary purpose of distance and online education was providing access to instruction for those otherwise unable to participate in a traditional, place-based academic programme. As its purpose has shifted to supporting continuity of instruction, its audience, as well as the wider learning ecosystem, has changed. It will be interesting to see which aspects of emergency remote teaching remain in the next generation of education, when the threat of COVID-19 is no longer a factor. But online education will undoubtedly find new audiences. And the flexibility and learning possibilities that have emerged from necessity are likely to shift the expectations of students and educators, diminishing further the line between classroom-based instruction and virtual learning.

Creating the Perfect PowerPoint for Online Teaching

While other forms of visual presentations have cropped up—such as Prezi and Empressr —PowerPoint remains the presentation software of choice. Yet many folks develop PowerPoint presentations without fully understanding all components of the software and/or presenter tricks that could make for much more effective PowerPoint presentations.

The suggestions that follow will help you create effective PowerPoint presentations.

Know your audience. You must be fully aware of what the audience is expecting from your PowerPoint; also, be aware of your audience’s education level—the complexity of your text and visuals must match what the audience will understand.

Create an outline to help you develop your PowerPoint presentation. The outline gives your PowerPoint the structure it requires, allows you to develop a balanced array of visuals, and gives you an initial look at the time required for students to view your PowerPoint slides. Your PowerPoint should not be so long that the audience loses interest, and if you have a set amount of time, you need be sure your PowerPoint fits within that time.

Become familiar with all features of PowerPoint. PowerPoint is a powerful presentation tool with many features that allow you to jazz up your slides, import other slides, add audio and video, change background styles and colors, etc. Spend whatever time it takes to fully familiarize yourself with all that PowerPoint offers; you’ll be able to develop a more professional and engaging PowerPoint presentation—something your audience will appreciate.

Do not become dazzled with the “whistles and bells” of PowerPoint. It is easy to be seduced by the over-the-top features of PowerPoint, such as transition and animation. Yet too much use of these will distract from the primary purpose of your PowerPoint: getting important information to your audience in an easy-to-understand manner. Certainly, some of these fun tools can help make your PowerPoint more engaging and can spotlight especially salient items in your presentation. But be careful that your PowerPoint does not turn into a Disney cartoon, resulting in a presentation that is less than effective. Overall, keep the design simple and basic.

Limit each slide to a few bulleted points. Your audience needs to quickly understand what you are presenting. Many folks load up each slide with far too much text. This defeats the purpose of a PowerPoint presentation. Keep each slide to no more than four bulleted items, with each item a maximum of one line in length. If you need to add more information, you have two options: (1) have some notes (use your outline for this) and simply add the material—by voice—when appropriate; and (2) at the bottom of each blank slide there is a section called “Speaker’s Notes”—you can add in here what you want to say to your audience beyond what they see on a slide (only you can see the Speaker’s Notes).

Use graphics to highlight your information, not overtake it. A visual on a slide won’t take the place of your text—and it shouldn’t—but it can highlight a point you are making and help to engage the audience. Have a nice balance of visuals and colors, and spend some time searching for the spot-on, already-created visual. (There are many sources: online, your own, items you’ve scanned, etc.) You also can create your own graphs and/or charts and use screenshots of items.

Your voice can truly bring a PowerPoint to life. In an online PowerPoint presentation, the audience hears more of your voice than if you were in a room with them. Thus, each clearing of your throat, sip of water, “um” and “uh,” and licking of the lips can often be heard. Speak slowly; be sure to vary your tone (no one enjoys a monotone!); stay enthusiastic and excited about the topic; and use your voice to bring audience attention to important points, closing of a subject, introduction of the next slide, etc.

Always do a slideshow run of your PowerPoint to view it as an audience member. You’ll find one of the drop-down menu items on the top tool bar of PowerPoint is called “Slideshow.” Here you have various choices that allow you to view your PowerPoint as a slideshow. Be sure to do this so you will see what your audience will see and you can quickly pick up on items that might need to be corrected, such as typos, font size, size of or lack of visuals, too much text on a slide, length of time for the PowerPoint, etc. And for each slide, make a note (e.g., #14—correct spacing; #15—OK; etc.). Once completed, make the changes and then run the slideshow again.

Check spelling, grammar, spacing, font size and style, etc. It is crucial that all components of writing be perfect. Be sure that the font size and style are easy to read. Consider line spacing and visual placement.

Always do a trial run with at least one other person. While we will see items that need to be corrected or tweaked, rarely do we see them all. Have one person or more look at it to get their input. You’ll be surprised at how many helpful suggestions you will receive about things you had not considered or just didn’t see. Your audience will benefit from this extra input.

In recent years, researchers have been writing about the importance of innovating in the classroom. They also referred that innovation becomes a necessity when we move from the face-to-face to the online environment. That is the case of the teamwork presentations, habitual and essential activities in the training of future professionals. In this article, we provide a comparative analysis of the results obtained in three iterations of action research about a new way to run team presentations in a Supply Chain Management online course. Findings suggest that this approach to online presentation can greatly improve learning and motivation, as students are required to get involved in the research of the topic and delivering an oral presentation. All of which enhances the development of a more integrative learning experience.

1 Introduction

Digital transformation in higher education is an inevitable process, which has been reinforced after the COVID-19 pandemic. This study is the result, on the one hand of the systematic search for methodologies to increase the effectiveness of synchronous online teaching, and on the other, of the transformation/adaptation of activities from face-to-face to online environment.

Presentations play a fundamental role in the acquisition of knowledge by students and for this reason, they are used as an assessment method in all disciplines. This research originates from the identification of bad practices in the realization of oral presentations in workgroups. Students show a lack of a comprehensive understanding of the work, hence the main objective of the activity is not achieved. In addition, due to time constraints and the number of students, interventions are often short, making individual assessments difficult for instructors.

In the first iteration of this research, two questions are raised: how to get students to carry out comprehensive learning of work? and how to maximize individual exposure time while taking advantage of the virtual environment?

Authors explore a new format for oral presentations of group work. It consists of presenting the work in small groups. Each team develops the assigned topic as in a traditional presentation, but instead of being presented in front of the entire class, the presentation is made in a subgroup. The class is divided, and one or two members of each team are assigned to a subgroup. In this way, all the members of the speaking teams must be prepared to present the complete work.

After this introduction and the Literature review, the action research methodology chosen will be presented and justified, highlighting the participants and context and the design details. The research findings are then described and discussed, leading to the conclusions section.

2 Literature Reviews

A systematic review of the literature on the use of oral presentations in higher education was conducted. Several studies have been focused on different aspects related to the presentation performance and assessing it [ 1 ]; other studies were more focused on the design of principles [ 2 , 3 ], or self and peer assessment of oral presentation skills [ 4 , 5 ]. Furthermore, other authors concentrated their research more on the role that feedback plays in improving those presentation skills [ 6 , 7 ].

De Grez & Valcke, [ 8 ] define oral presentation competence as the combination of knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to speak in public in order to inform, to persuade, and relate. McDougall & Holden, [ 9 ] however, include the preparation of the presentation as part of the oral presentation skills.

Presentation of teamwork has been used as a complement in the evaluation of various disciplines [ 10 ], including engineering [ 1 ] and management. To acquire this competence, students must go through a preparation phase, which ranges from the research and review of materials to the preparation of the means of the presentation [ 11 ].

3 Methodology

This research has been carried out in an online Supply Chain Management (SCM) course taught in an engineering degree. As in any action research (AR), applied in educational environments, the teachers involved played the double role of teacher-researcher, hence collecting all the information generated from the application of the new format while they carried out the activity.

The action research process is based on the principle of systematic research based on continuous reflection [ 12 ]. Figure  1 shows in a summarized and schematic way the series of steps followed by the researchers in which they reflect, plan, act and evaluate.

In the second and third iterations, the aspects that give rise to the research continue to be analyzed, trying to collect more information that allows reaching solid conclusions about the new format. During this process, new questions and possibilities for improvement arise.

figure 1

(Source: own elaboration based on [ 12 , 13 ])

Action Research cycle

3.1 Design and Procedure

SCM is an elective subject offered to students in the third and fourth year of an Industrial Technologies engineering degree. The average enrollment in this subject is 25 students. The new format was implemented for two consecutive years in two types of activities: 15-min mini-presentations (MP) in classes and coursework presentations (FP). It is important to highlight the fact that the course in which this action research is carried out is not an oral presentation course. The oral presentations in the SCM subject are a complement in the training of soft skills of engineering degrees.

At the beginning of the course, students are asked to divide into teams to perform volunteer activities. These activities are not qualified for continuous evaluation but are qualified for extra evaluation. In previous sessions, teacher assigns research tasks to volunteer teams and explains how the activity will be carried out. Work teams are informed that on the day of the presentation they will be randomly divided into subgroups and will be informed in what order they will present. Similarly, it happens for coursework’s.

Five content questions were elaborated by the teachers to check if the basic knowledge had been acquired in all the groups. They were based on main ideas about the topics to be developed and on student presentations of the subject in previous courses. Another six questions were set to assess the degree of satisfaction of the students with the new format, four of which were addressed only to the speakers. A Likert scale from 1 to 5 was used, where 1 corresponds to “totally disagree” and 5 to “totally agree”. At the end of the presentations, the students were asked to answer the content questions first and then the satisfaction questions.

4 Findings and Discussion

In the answers to the content questions, no significant differences were observed neither between speakers and listeners, nor between the students of the subgroups. The main impact of the format change falls on the presenters, for this reason the study has focused more on their perception. The approach is based on the fact that for the speakers the new format implies greater dedication in the preparation of the activity, and longer presentation time.

To have an overview of the answers to the satisfaction questions, a summary table was made with the speakers of the three iterations (Table 1 ).

A global analysis of the answers provided by the students of the three iterations was carried out. There seems to be a consensus among the participants that the new format favors the involvement of team members in the accomplishment of the task. Likewise, they seem to agree that having to spend more time preparing for the presentation improves the learning of the research topic. Less consensus is observed in the preference of the new format over the traditional format. Only 60% of the participants gave 4–5 score to the S5 question. In addition, the percentage of students who expressed indifference in this question is high (34%). A possible explanation for this result is that they have to devote more time to preparing the presentation. This could be the reason why they are conservative when it comes to selecting whether the new format should prevail over the tradditional format. Another possible reason is the novelty of this type of activity.

After a global analysis, speakers’ data have been segmented per iteration in order to be compared (Fig.  2 ).

Graph of presenters' perception of the three iterations

Answers to questions 1 to 4 are quite similar or have improved when compared recent data (2022) with last year’s results. However, answers to questions 5 and 6 show a contradictory opinion in the reporters of the third iteration (P2022). While most people (80%) declared that they would change to the new format, only 10% prefer it.

5 Conclusion

An alternative approach to develop and present team-works using digital platforms is being carried out through Action Research. In this current research phase, researchers are trying to confirm how students perceive changes focused on improving their learning about the topic they have been assigned. It is highly accepted that the new approach improves the involvement in all team members, presentation experience and a more comprehensive learning of the topic assigned. Oral presentation skills also improved even though it was not a key target of this research phase. However, it seems that students also noted that good research and extensive learning require effort on their part, but they do not seem to understand whether the effort is worth it. These results cannot be generalized yet due to the fact that the sample may still be short and biased by subject environment (such as last year´s course and optional subject, among others). Moreover, some aspects of the most appropriate way to evaluate this activity and the impact on the instructor's workload are still being studied. This new approach to oral presentations on digital platforms is clearly feasible and highly recommended by teachers to guarantee a better outcomes in students’ learning experience, but there are still many doubts and adjustments that must be answered and solved in next action research iterations.

7 tips to create an online presentation for school

7 tips to create an online presentation for school

We can all admit that we’ve been living in uncertain and difficult times that have completely changed our outlook on life. We had no choice but to adapt in every possible way. Business companies, travel agencies, retail shops, restaurants… but mostly schools and universities all over the world had to rethink their strategy from an online perspective.

And this is something very challenging, especially for the entire education system. Students and professors struggle to develop creative solutions to keep learning and teaching and to make it as enjoyable as possible. Many of these solutions rely on technology, of course. Whether we want to admit it or not, the internet is our best friend when it comes to online learning . The classes must continue, even if it can’t happen in person. And that’s exactly where Flipsnack comes in.

Our Classroom plan becomes free

We believe that everyone should have access to education . Everyone deserves to finish their studies, gain as much knowledge as possible, and become the best version of themselves. Because Flipsnack supports education wholeheartedly and encourages the spirit of empathy and compassion, we’ve decided to give our Classroom plan for free for an entire year. This plan allows education to keep moving forward even if the schools and universities are closed.

But today’s article is much more than just showcasing our Classroom plan and free online presentation templates . We want to help students complete their school assignments in full measure, that’s why this article offers them some useful tips about how to create an online presentation that looks both attractive and explanatory. Let’s get started!

How to create an online presentation?

First of all, a good online presentation starts by organizing the content. No matter how fascinating your message is, if you don’t know how to organize it simply, your audience will have trouble understanding it. And especially in these difficult times when we can communicate only through the internet, it’s crucial to deliver our message as well as we can. It’s important to keep a balance between content and design when working on your slides because you want to get your message across with impact. But we’ll talk more about this subject later.

You should keep in mind that you must capture the people’s attention right from the beginning. Otherwise…your online presentation will flop. Few listeners will stick with you to the end and remain with something that you’ve told. In fact, the goal of an online presentation for school is to deliver the message in an easy and comprehensible way. Both your colleagues and teachers should understand it. Let’s dig deeper and discover how to create a presentation like a pro!

1. Start with a good online presentation template

First thing first, choose a template that has them all: colors, fonts, images, charts, captions, text boxes…everything that you can use to create an amazing online presentation . It’s much easier to put all the information when you already have a pre-existing template. Flipsnack has them abundantly. Explore them and select the best one for your school projects. Later in this article, we’ve made a selection of four professional and beautiful templates that you can customize to your needs. Stick with us till the end.

2. Organize your information

You have to think of your online presentation like it’s a school essay. Break it down into three simple sections: introduction, body, and conclusion. Your introduction needs to briefly summarize what you’re going to present and why it’s important and relevant to your audience. The body should be the most explanatory part of your presentation. Present the facts and all the information widely, giving examples. The conclusion should always resume in a few sentences your entire presentation. Don’t forget to also give your audience some key takeaways on how they can put into practice what you’ve presented to them.

Organize all of your ideas logically and practically. If your teacher gave you a list of things that you should cover, make sure that you insert them all in your online presentation. Build the slides in such a way that you cover one main idea per slide. Don’t jam more ideas to one slide, you’ll confuse your listeners.Keep all necessary supporting resources in one place. This will help you to navigate through quickly and don’t forget anything. For this aim, you will need the help of specialized education platforms like Studocu.com . You can create notes and documents for your presentation there and receive access 24/7, so you will not leave this at home at a crucial moment.

3. Choose visuals wisely

One thing’s for sure: a good design can make or break an online presentation. The visuals within your presentation make the slides more impactful and enjoyable to listen to. But only as long as they help clarify the message. Always use high quality and professional images that are relevant to your subject. Feel free to also use diagrams, charts, graphs, or other visuals that help you present your ideas. Your images should make it easier for your colleagues to remember what you just presented, and not confuse them even more.

4. Colors, fonts, and format

When it comes to colors, we recommend using something relevant to your message. Relevance is the key! Choose one or two colors (not counting black and white) so that your online presentation has a consistent look and feel. Also, if you have a dark color as the background, use white as your text color, and if you have a light color as the background, use black as the text color. This way, your colleagues will find it easier to read it. Keep your text at least 18 points, so that everyone can see it effortlessly.

Fonts, fonts, fonts. Always be consistent with them. It’s exactly what makes your presentation look more professional. Never switch between caps and lower case, Times New Roman and Calibri, or 6 and 25 point text size. Stick with a single font and single size throughout the entire presentation.

Last, but not least, make sure that your text is aligned and neat. The format of your presentation needs to be perfect! Yes, it can sometimes be time-consuming, but it’s totally worth the effort.

5. Use big text for a big impact

Like we’ve said before, don’t cram everything on one slide. It will make your presentation look unprofessional and in a hurry. And you don’t want that. You want your colleagues to understand your message completely and your teacher to praise your good work, right? Make the text and visuals as large as you can. It’s easier for your colleagues to see and read them, but also it’s more impactful for their memory and they will retain the information more quickly. You can fill an entire slide with one picture and place the text right on top. Don’t forget to use a transparent background behind the text, so that your audience will read it clearly.

6. Less is more

Every time you’re doing an online presentation, remember that your slides should support what you’re saying, not to say it for you. Less is more, especially when it comes to making a good presentation. It’s crucial to use as few words as possible on your slides, not complete sentences. For instance, place one main point on a slide and one or two sub-points if absolutely necessary. They should emphasize and reinforce, not replace the words you’re going to speak verbally.

Another important aspect we should mention here is that you need to plan out what you’re going to present before creating your slides. Why? Because it will be easier to design and organize your online presentation. Further, don’t forget to repeat your speech a few times before presenting it to your colleagues and teacher. This way, you’ll be more confident about your presentation and you won’t be so nervous, and also, if something goes wrong with your online presentation, you still have a speech ready to give that you master completely.

7. Highlight the important things

We all know that it’s easy for your audience to lose interest in your online presentation. People get bored quickly, that’s why you need to keep them as involved and interested as possible. Use a little bit of “magic”. Highlight important keywords with the help of bold or different colors. Emphasize only the necessary ones. Animate parts of your illustrations and graphs to build your story rather than showing everything from the beginning. Don’t be afraid to use arrows, circles or other pointers to show what you’re referring to specific parts of your text. You’ll see that people will pay more attention to your online presentation when they’ll see everything so organized and beautifully arranged.

How to prepare for an online presentation

You should know from the start that there are some differences between online and traditional presentations. Don’t worry if you haven’t had the opportunity to present a school project online so far, there’s a beginning for everything. In fact, it’s no rocket science to prepare for an online presentation, you just need to take some things into consideration.

First and foremost, make sure that you’re going to rehearse your speech at home a few times before presenting it to everybody. This way, you’ll also get rid of nervosity and you’ll feel more prepared for the big day. Keep in mind that your voice is your number one ally, so make sure to drink some tea with honey one night before the presentation.

Then, make sure you’re dressed properly. Nobody says that you should wear a dress or a suit, but you should at least not show up in front of your colleagues in your jogging equipment. Wear something comfy, but also suitable for a public speech. And since we are at this chapter, you should also pay attention to the environmental background. Adapt your room in such a way that it suits your online presentation. Keep your room simple and clear and get rid of any elements that could distract your audience.

Last, but not least, be sure that you’re the first one that shows up in the video call. Make sure that your internet works perfectly and that everybody sees you and hears you clearly. We recommend you should double-check that your camera and microphone are on. Also, as a final note, don’t forget to share your screen with your colleagues, so that they are completely aware of what you’re presenting to them.

Online Education PPT, PowerPoint Presentation, and PDF

Online Education PPT, PowerPoint Presentation, and PDF : It is no wonder how people are opting for online degree programs all across the world through online education. Online learning has to be an extreme revolution in contemporary education. It has made great changes in the system and opened doors for a pool of opportunities for every person who wants to enhance their learning.

Nonetheless, online education is attached to some stereotypes. People think that the students from online classes are enough smart, they’re a couch potato, don’t get real degrees, and even, not perfect for brick and mortar kind of studies. These no-so-true aspects of online education may discourage some people and they continue to be stuck in the traditional system of education. Allow us to explain why online education is more beneficial and effective than people think.

We have five top-rated advantages of online education that will inspire you and make you reconsider your choice towards the type of education that you will get. Let us take a peek at these below.

You can learn whatever you want

When you pick up a course from traditional education, then it would include traveling far away from your home, coping up with the difficulties of the unknown city, and struggling in a competitive environment for learning. With the help of online education, you can go for any program or course present in the conventional four-year universities. For instance, you can take any course that meets with your interest and enhances knowledge even if you do not want to establish your career in this field. No matter where you live, you can find a course or even a degree program that you can follow from your place.

No need to attend all brick-and-mortar classes by sitting on an uncomfortable chair for long and suffering from back pain at the end of the day. You will not be restricted to attend any physical classes when you have applied for online learning. All lectures as well as associated materials have provided through the online platforms and you will access them from home comfort. In addition to this, there is no need to take transport from home to university and spend some extra bucks or dress up early in the morning. The list of convenience is never-ending.

Add great value to resume

Irrespective of your career stands at the moment, an online program always looks great and add value to the resume. • by Refresh Science
  • December 22, 2021 January 22, 2023

Online education is very popular recently due to this pandemic situation. All educational institutions starting practicing online courses considering the safety of the students. There are both advantages and disadvantages in online educations. let us see about them in detail:

Pros of Online education

Time management:.

Time management is one of the major pros of online education. Because most of the students spent lot of time in travelling especially in metro cities.

Various courses are covered under one roof. This is also related to time management. Where students are in a need to move to various locations for their respective classes.

Due to the above mentioned reasons students can learn wide courses in a short duration.

Note : If the download link is not working, kindly let us know in comment section.

Affordable:

Online education is cost efficient. It is like a one time investment i.e. buying a laptop or a tablet. Other than that the cost of the online courses are very affordable compared to normal coaching classes.

It is very convenient and flexible not only for students but also for the parents to take care of the kids. The students can study at comfort at their home .

Online course are very much interactable since each students are monitored individually compared to classroom courses. Therefore the ability to concentrate in the subject is also increased.

It helps in improving self discipline among students. It also helps in self motivation which results in higher productivity.

Multi tasking:

Online courses are a boom to people’s who discontinued their studied for the purpose of career. Since it is flexible one can concentrate both in studies as well as in career.

Students can spent more time in their area of interest or in hobbies and also interact with people who is having same area of interest with great knowledge anywhere across the country.

Techno impact:

Since it is a virtual mode of training it is very simple and easy to understand even very complex topics. We can say that the methodology of teaching has changed as per students wish.

Other advantages:

So far we have seen the advantages of online education from students point of view. There are also more advantages other than above mentioned, let’s check it:

Online education is more advantageous to educational institution as the maintenance cost is totally reduced. Maintenance includes cost of classrooms, Electricity cost , Water cost, cost of study materials, house keeping charges and so on.

Teachers also prepare for their course in form of soft copies which can be used for future courses which reduces time and it is long-lasting.

Most of physical classroom demands are reduced such as desk, paper, pen etc.. since it is digitalized it is completely paperless.

For working parents it is very easy to make their kids concentrate on studies and take care of them. Since students are present at home all days and they can learn at flexible time duration at the convenience of the parents.

Cons of Online Education

We all know as a coin has two sides there are also two sides for online education. let’s see the cons of online education:

  • Online education is not available at ease for many students. Mainly for students from rural areas. Because it requires high internet speed which is not available in rural areas.
  • There are also students who cannot afford for costly electric gadgets used for class.
  • Students are isolated from the outer world. They are hooked up in single room with the technology in front of them. The students are not even interested in exploring the outer world.
  • As the students are isolated they become more stressful which causes many health issues.
  • Technology not only teaches good things it paves way for many bad things too. There is a chance for students to get distracted by using unwanted sites.
  • If there is any technical issues then it will be a huge loss for the students. There is a chance for them to miss the class or not able to attend the class until rectifying it.
  • Online class means more screen time therefore there is a chance for eyesight related issues.
  • Due to social isolation students lack communication skills.

Cons of Online Education

  • Only theoretical skills are well developed and there is a lack in practical skills. If it is a physical classroom practical training will also be provided simultaneously.
  • There is a tremendous reduction in physical activities among the students. Whereas in classroom coaching separate time is allotted for the purpose of drills or yoga etc.
  • During exam time it is difficult for the examiner to avoid cheating by the students. Only if the student is self disciplined the exam will be in a fair manner else there is more chance for malpractice.

As we know Online education is one of the big life saver during this pandemic situation . Parents are worried about the safety of the children and not ready to send them to educational institutions. They are also worried about the education of the children. Due to online education both the safety of the students as well as education is balanced.

‘A whole different way of teaching’: Innovative online education program ranks No. 5 nationally

U.S. News & World Report gives SDSU online Master of Arts in Teaching high marks for quality, student success.

SDSU is now tied at No. 5 in Graduate Education in U.S. News & World Report's 2024 Best Online Program Rankings

When a group of School of Teacher Education faculty members led by Professor Emerita Valerie Ooka Pang launched San Diego State University’s online Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) in 2014, it was something of a bold step into the unknown.

A decade later, the program is not just thriving, it’s recognized as one of the nation’s best.

SDSU is now tied at No. 5 in Graduate Education in U.S. News & World Report's 2024 Best Online Program Rankings, released Wednesday.

It’s the highest ranking ever in the category for SDSU, which improved two spots from the 2023 list. The University of North Texas shared the No. 5 spot.

SDSU also picked up its first-ever ranking in the Curriculum and Instruction specialty category: No. 17.

“Val deserves the credit as the founding leader of the program,” said Luke Duesbery , a professor in teacher education and current online MAT program coordinator. “She had the vision 10 years ago that this was the future.”

The program has grown steadily from a cohort of just seven students in its first year to 106 today. Most are in-service teachers looking to hone their skills in inquiry-based education. Since the pandemic, the program has also accelerated its focus on teaching in online modalities, now offering three courses on education technology.

The online MAT received high marks from U.S. News & World Report for its strong graduation and retention rates, the technology available to students and the high quality of its faculty.

“I’d like to congratulate Val, Luke and the dedicated team of lecturers — most of them current and former K-12 teachers themselves — who continue to make our MAT one of the nation’s best online programs,” said Y. Barry Chung , dean of the SDSU College of Education. “Through this program, hundreds of teachers have been able to not only advance in their careers but have learned to broaden their impact on generations of students.”

Duesbery notes that since most school districts also offer higher pay for teachers with master’s degrees, graduates often recover the cost of their tuition within two years. But the most important change, he said, shows up not in their paychecks, but in how they operate in the classroom.

“Our program helps teachers change their way of thinking — to approach teaching as a researcher,” he said. “They investigate their students, they analyze the data they gather and they change their teaching practice based on that. It's a whole different way of teaching.”
