Web Report Studio

JReport provides the web reporting solution for faster and simpler design and creation of reports using the new interactive viewer called Web Report Studio. Web Report Studio provides a much nicer end user experience with many powerful features for creating and interfacing with reports. It also allows exporting the reports to all supported output formats. Furthermore Web Report Studio is able to be responsive to any size of browsers on any mobile devices. The same report is rendered differently depending on the device or screen size without having to be manually resized. While for mobile devices using iOS, in order to run reports on the mobile browser you need to make sure the iOS version is up to the latest.

The data sources that can be used to create web reports are business views, which can provide interactive information. Interactive information empowers you to slice and dice your business data, to dynamically change your view of data, and to analyze the data to glean useful business information. In short, interactive information enables you to customize your view of business information, extending the "life" of the report by allowing you to easily sort, navigate, and filter data. This wide range of functionality, including the ability to drill down on data, enables you to quickly derive value from your business intelligence data.

Web reports published to JReport Server or created in Web Report Studio are stored in the server resource system and follow the server resource and version management rules such as archive policy and permission setting. JReport Designer supports creating, opening, and editing of web reports as well.

Web Report Studio provides two ways for creating and working with web reports: traditional way and quick start way. In the traditional way, reports are created using the Web Report Wizard which allows creating complex reports with multiple components in a tabular style layout, and also allows for company logo and titles to be placed on the top of the page for more formal presentation. In the quick start way, a table report is created quickly based on the data fields you selected in a business view. When JReport Server is newly installed, by default it is the quick start way. When the server is upgraded from an earlier version, it is the traditional way by default. You can switch between the two ways using either of the following methods:

  • In the server profile, select the Yes checkbox for the Use Wizard for Web Report Studio option if you prefer the traditional way. Otherwise unselect Yes.
  • In Web Report Studio, click Menu > Edit , select Use Wizard to use the traditional way, or unselect it to use the quick start way.

Web Report Studio has two modes: View Mode and Edit Mode. View Mode provides viewing-oriented functions only and Edit Mode provides additional editing and analytic functions. When accessing Web Report Studio by creating new web reports, Edit Mode is applied by default; when accessing by running existing web reports , which mode is applied depends on the way you use to run the reports. You can switch between the two modes by using the mode drop-down list on the toolbar if it is available.

This chapter covers the following topics to help you better interact with web reports:

  • Why Web Reports and When to Choose Them
  • Components Supported in Web Reports
  • An Introduction to Business Views
  • Quick Start with a Table Report
  • Creating Web Reports Using Wizard
  • Web Report Studio Window Elements
  • Editing Web Reports in Web Report Studio
  • Customizing Web Report Studio Profile
  • Customizing the Web Report Studio UI
  • A JReport Live license for JReport Server is required in order to use Web Report Studio. If you do not have the license, contact your Logi Analytics account manager to obtain it.
  • Web Report Studio cannot run on Internet Explorer 8.

Inside sony’s ‘madame web’ collapse: forget about a new franchise.

The flop is wiping out an entire plan for a new movie series, as the studio becomes the latest superhero studio in need of a pivot.

Madame Web

The trailer buzz was worrisome, advance ticket sales anemic. Then last week, the critic reviews for Madame Web were posted, and they stung deepest of all — Sony ’s Spider-Man spinoff received the lowest average Rotten Tomatoes score (13 percent) of any major superhero film in nearly a decade.

Related Stories

Box office: bob marley's 'one love' jams past $120m globally, 'madame web' and 'drive-away dolls' spin out, robert lawson promoted to lead sony corp. comms.

It marked one of the lowest starts in Hollywood history for a film based on a Marvel character. Domestic box office for the first six days in North America was just $26.2 million after opening midweek on Valentine’s Day. International tallied $25.7 million from 61 markets. Even the fan-friendly CinemaScore grade was poor (C+ — extremely low for a superhero title).

Like DC and the once-unstoppable Marvel, Sony is now finding itself in under the gun to reevaluate how it makes comic book movies.

Sony’s previous Spider-Man universe movie — 2022’s Morbius — was a critical bust and much-maligned by fanboys online, but at least it managed to earn $170 million worldwide. There’s no such hope for Madame Web. Plus , the feature’s collapse doesn’t just impact this film, but a new potential franchise led by star Dakota Johnson that Sony had hoped to spin out (spoiler alert: her character is connected to Peter Parker, whose birth is documented in the movie).

The film introduced a trio of supporting characters (played by Isabela Merced, Celeste O’Connor and Sydney Sweeney — now one of the top stars her age). It set up a future in which the three could have become a team of Spider-Women under the guiding eye of Johnson’s Cassie Webb. Now that’s not going to happen.

“We’re not going to see another Madame Web movie for another decade-plus,” quipped one industry veteran. “It failed. Sony tried to make a movie that was a different type of superhero movie.”

So Madame Web — directed and co-written by S.J. Clarkson and starring Johnson as a New York paramedic who develops psychic powers — seemingly took a wise approach: When there are capes and cowls on every metropolis corner, doesn’t it make sense to avoid the usual tropes and try for a more grounded-feeling suspense thriller with low-key charm? And moreover, make a superhero movie for women and young girls?

Except it didn’t work.

“I don’t know if women are enough to carry the box office here,” one veteran studio source outside of Sony says. Indeed, males make up 65 percent to 70 percent of the superhero audience in North America. In the case of Madame Web , the percentage of female viewers was still only 46 percent.

“We are in transition when it comes to superhero movies,” notes the insider. “I don’t know how big that transition is or what the other side looks like. It may be fewer movies, but bigger brands. Sony is willing to take some risk but also wants home runs — that’s good. And if [Sony’s upcoming Spider-Man Universe title] Kraven is a gigantic hit, the narrative could be completely different. So it’s too early to know the outcome.”

Interestingly, some Madame Web reviewers are earnestly making the case that the film could eventually find a second-life as a camp classic (the Los Angeles Times praised it as “the purest form of camp” and Slate raved, “It’s a travesty, a disaster … and I enjoyed the hell out of it”). While such backhanded compliments are hardly solace to Sony, there’s an argument to be made if you’re going to fail, you might as well fail big. Because there is actually something worse than a movie not succeeding: being forgettable.

Gemini 1.5: Our next-generation model, now available for Private Preview in Google AI Studio

February 15, 2024

web report studio

Last week, we released Gemini 1.0 Ultra in Gemini Advanced. You can try it out now by signing up for a Gemini Advanced subscription . The 1.0 Ultra model, accessible via the Gemini API, has seen a lot of interest and continues to roll out to select developers and partners in Google AI Studio .

Today, we’re also excited to introduce our next-generation Gemini 1.5 model , which uses a new Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) approach to improve efficiency. It routes your request to a group of smaller "expert” neural networks so responses are faster and higher quality.

Developers can sign up for our Private Preview of Gemini 1.5 Pro , our mid-sized multimodal model optimized for scaling across a wide-range of tasks. The model features a new, experimental 1 million token context window, and will be available to try out in  Google AI Studio . Google AI Studio is the fastest way to build with Gemini models and enables developers to easily integrate the Gemini API in their applications. It’s available in 38 languages across 180+ countries and territories .

1,000,000 tokens: Unlocking new use cases for developers

Before today, the largest context window in the world for a publicly available large language model was 200,000 tokens. We’ve been able to significantly increase this — running up to 1 million tokens consistently, achieving the longest context window of any large-scale foundation model. Gemini 1.5 Pro will come with a 128,000 token context window by default, but today’s Private Preview will have access to the experimental 1 million token context window.

We’re excited about the new possibilities that larger context windows enable. You can directly upload large PDFs, code repositories, or even lengthy videos as prompts in Google AI Studio. Gemini 1.5 Pro will then reason across modalities and output text.

Upload multiple files and ask questions We’ve added the ability for developers to upload multiple files, like PDFs, and ask questions in Google AI Studio. The larger context window allows the model to take in more information — making the output more consistent, relevant and useful. With this 1 million token context window, we’ve been able to load in over 700,000 words of text in one go. Gemini 1.5 Pro can find and reason from particular quotes across the Apollo 11 PDF transcript.
[Video sped up for demo purposes]
Query an entire code repository The large context window also enables a deep analysis of an entire codebase, helping Gemini models grasp complex relationships, patterns, and understanding of code. A developer could upload a new codebase directly from their computer or via Google Drive, and use the model to onboard quickly and gain an understanding of the code. Gemini 1.5 Pro can help developers boost productivity when learning a new codebase.
Add a full length video Gemini 1.5 Pro can also reason across up to 1 hour of video. When you attach a video, Google AI Studio breaks it down into thousands of frames (without audio), and then you can perform highly sophisticated reasoning and problem-solving tasks since the Gemini models are multimodal. Gemini 1.5 Pro can perform reasoning and problem-solving tasks across video and other visual inputs.

More ways for developers to build with Gemini models

In addition to bringing you the latest model innovations, we’re also making it easier for you to build with Gemini:

Easy tuning. Provide a set of examples, and you can customize Gemini for your specific needs in minutes from inside Google AI Studio. This feature rolls out in the next few days.
New developer surfaces . Integrate the Gemini API to build new AI-powered features today with new Firebase Extensions , across your development workspace in Project IDX , or with our newly released Google AI Dart SDK .
Lower pricing for Gemini 1.0 Pro . We’re also updating the 1.0 Pro model, which offers a good balance of cost and performance for many AI tasks. Today’s stable version is priced 50% less for text inputs and 25% less for outputs than previously announced. The upcoming pay-as-you-go plans for AI Studio are coming soon.

Since December, developers of all sizes have been building with Gemini models, and we’re excited to turn cutting edge research into early developer products in Google AI Studio . Expect some latency in this preview version due to the experimental nature of the large context window feature, but we’re excited to start a phased rollout as we continue to fine-tune the model and get your feedback. We hope you enjoy experimenting with it early on, like we have.

How to find and enable missing Copilot button in Microsoft 365 apps

Copilot is available in the Home ribbon tab of Word, Excel (Preview), PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote if you are a Copilot Pro subscriber who also has a subscription to Microsoft 365 Personal or Family.

If you have those subscriptions and are not seeing Copilot in these Microsoft 365 apps, follow these steps:

Important:  Copilot in Outlook only supports work or school accounts, and Microsoft accounts using outlook.com, hotmail.com, live.com, and msn.com email addresses at this time. Any Microsoft account using an account from a third-party email provider, such as a Gmail, Yahoo, or iCloud, can still use Outlook, but won’t have access to the Copilot features in Outlook.

Step 1 - Ensure you're using the correct account

Make sure you're signed into your Microsoft 365 apps with an account that has a Copilot license.

For home users ...this means you should have a Microsoft 365 Personal or Family subscription, and Copilot Pro.

For business users ...this means you should have a Microsoft 365 Business Standard, Business Premium, E3, or E5 subscription, and Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365.

Step 2 - Make sure that the current file is saved in that account

If you have multiple file locations available to you - such as your business OneDrive and your personal OneDrive - Copilot will only appear if the file you have open is saved to the location associated to your Copilot subscription.

For example, if you have Copilot through your work account, but not through your personal account, and you open a file from your personal OneDrive, Copilot won't work with that file.

For new, unsaved files, or files on your local hard drive, the current primary account shown at the top of the Microsoft 365 window must be licensed for Copilot.

A picture with a red arrow pointing to the current primary user name which is on the app title bar towards the top right of the window.

Important:  Copilot in Excel requires AutoSave to be turned on, which means the file has to be saved to OneDrive. It currently doesn't work with unsaved files.

Step 3 - Refresh your license

Force a refresh of the license.

Note:  These steps must be done by the account administrator.

In any Microsoft 365 app, go to File > Account .

Locating the Update License button in Microsoft Word on Windows.

Close and restart all Microsoft 365 apps you might have open so that the license refresh can take effect.

In any Microsoft 365 app, select the app name at the top of your screen.

Locating the Update License button in Microsoft Word on MacOS.

Close any open documents and restart all Microsoft 365 apps you may have open so the license refresh can take effect.

Ensure your apps are updated to their latest versions via your device's app store.

Close your app completely, and then re-launch it.

Refresh the page

Select the Refresh icon in your browser to see if the Copilot features appear.

The Refresh icon in Microsoft Edge.

You may have third-party cookies blocked in your browser, which currently causes Copilot to be unable to validate your license. If Copilot still isn't working for you try enabling third-party cookies. For more information see:  I am getting license validation errors with Copilot.
