Slide Layouts in PowerPoint – Everything You Need to Know!

If you want to make great presentations, and you are not a design wizard, slide layouts can come in really handy! It is a great place to start designing your presentation. If you are beginning your journey with PowerPoint, you may wonder, what is slide layout in PowerPoint?

Slide Layouts in PowerPoint are pre-created slide designs that allow you to quickly and easily add text, headings, images, tables, etc. By default, PowerPoint provides 9 slide layouts (including a blank slide). PowerPoint also allows you to easily add, edit and delete slide layouts.

So, where can you find these slide layouts? How do you format them? Well, in this article, I will share with you all the basic details that you need to know in order to get started with using and understanding the slide layouts in PowerPoint!

So, let’s get started!

1. What is a Slide Layout in PowerPoint?

A slide on PowerPoint can contain several elements including text, shapes, tables, images, headers, footers. In fact, there may be more than one same type of element present on a single slide. When you start creating a presentation, you are basically using some of these elements to share an inspiring story or an important piece of information.

However, the aesthetics of the slide are determined by how well you lay out these elements on the slide. If you have fairly good design skills, you will easily be able to create an aesthetically pleasing slide! For the rest of us, slide layouts are the way to go!

powerpoint presentation slide layout

In Microsoft PowerPoint, a “Slide Layout” refers to the way certain elements (such as text box, image, table, etc) are arranged on the slide. A slide layout is a pre-designed slide format with placeholders that allow you to add text, images, and other elements quickly to the slide.

Using slide layout and master slides, you can also control the color scheme of the presentation, type of fonts, effects, background, headers, footers, and other aspects of presentation design.

This functionality in PowerPoint that allows various pre-created designs to be added to a presentation is often leveraged by corporations. Organizations often create templates and not only control the way presentations look and feel, but also save time for their employees by providing them with various slide design options out of the box!

Pre-set slide layouts are amazing as they allow you to create or use PowerPoint presentation templates. These are pre-designed slide bundles that not only look great on a presentation even when used by a non-designer but also save time for the user of these templates.

For this article, I will be using one of the presentation templates from Envato Elements . With Envato Elements, you get access to thousands of presentation designs with unlimited downloads so you never run out of options again. Plus, you get free previews so you know exactly what you’re getting before buying! It is also very affordable.

2. Where is the Slide Layout in PowerPoint?

To get quick access to the different layouts of your PowerPoint presentation, click on the ‘Layout’ button in the ‘Slides’ section of the ‘Home’ tab . By clicking on the ‘Layout’ button you will see the various slide layouts present in your presentation.

How to Access Slide Layouts in PowerPoint?

To get complete access to all the Slide Layouts in your PowerPoint so that you can edit them, you have to go to the ‘Master Views’ section under the ‘View’ tab. The whole process is described in the steps mentioned below.

Step-1: Go to the ‘View’ Tab

powerpoint presentation slide layout

The first step is to go to the ‘View’ tab which is the second to last tab in the ribbon of your PowerPoint.

Step-2: Go to the ‘Slide Master’ view

In the next step, all you have to do is click on the ‘Slide Master’ view option in the ‘Master Views’ section which is located in the ‘Views’ tab.

Here, you will notice that the menu options change. Furthermore, you now have access to the different shape, image and text placeholders present on the slide. You will be able to move these placeholders and get complete access to the slide layout.

3. How to Change the Slide Layout in PowerPoint?

You can change the Slide Layout of a slide in your PowerPoint presentation by using the Quick access ‘Layout’ option in the ‘Home’ tab of the ribbon. The process is described in 2 easy steps below.

Step-1: Select the Slide first

powerpoint presentation slide layout

At first, you have to go to the slide you want to change the layout of and then click on the ‘Layout’ button in the ‘Slides’ section of the ‘Home’ tab. This will open a drop-down menu of all the slide layouts in your presentation.

Step-2: Click on Layout and Select a Different Layout

After clicking on the ‘Layout’ button, from the drop-down menu, simply select the layout that you want the slide to change into and the layout of that slide will be changed instantly.

4. How to Apply Slide Layout to All Slides?

Applying slide layout to all slides could mean a couple of things –

  • You want to make a change that applies to all slide layouts OR
  • You want a specific slide layout to be applied to all slides.

Whatever the case may be, we shall understand both in greater detail below –

4.1 How to Make a Change that Applies to All Slide Layouts

There are certain changes that you sometimes need to apply to all slides. For instance, adding a slide number, adding a company disclaimer, or a company logo.

To apply a change to all slide layout, you will have to edit the ‘Master Slide’ .

You will first need to access the “ Master Slides ” using the “ Slide Master View “. To do that, simply click on “ View “, then click on “ Slide Master “. (as described in the previous sections)

It is the first slide in the ‘Slide Master’ view option which you can find, as discussed earlier, in the ‘Views’ tab.

By applying a change to the ‘Master Slide’ the change will be added to all the other slides in the presentation as well. After going to the ‘Slide Master’ views, follow the simple steps described below.

In the following example, I’m going to add a “Star” (that shall act as a logo) to the top-right corner of the master slide.

Step-1: Apply the change in the ‘Master Slide’ layout.

powerpoint presentation slide layout

To apply slide layout to all the slides, make the change that you want to have on the ‘Master Slide’ . In this case I have added a star on the top right corner of the Slide.

Step-2: Send the applied changes to the background

powerpoint presentation slide layout

To keep the change, you have made on the background of every slide as a layout, ‘Right click’ on the objects and click on the ‘Send to back’ option from the drop-down menu.

That way, the object will be applied to the background of all the slides and the texts will be visible on top of the logo or the element added.

4.2 How to Apply Specific Slide Layout to All Slides?

If you want to apply a particular slide layout to all slides, follow the below mentioned steps –

Step 1 – Select All Slides

powerpoint presentation slide layout

The first step is to select all the slides. To do that, first click on any one slide. Then, press the “ Ctrl+A ” (Cmd+A for Mac) key combination on your keyboard to select all slides.

Step 2 – Change the Slide Layout

The next step is simply choosing the layout that you want to apply to all slides. To do that, first click on “Home”. Then, click on “Layouts” and choose a layout from the array of slide layouts presented by PowerPoint.

As soon as you select a slide layout, PowerPoint will apply it to all slides.

5. What is the Default PowerPoint Slide Layout?

The default PowerPoint Slide Layout is the style of layout that the Microsoft PowerPoint software provides you out-of-the-box when you open a new PowerPoint file.

powerpoint presentation slide layout

The default layout consists of 9 styles of slides which are:

  • Title Slide
  • Title and Content
  • Section Header
  • Two Content
  • Tittle Only
  • Content with Caption
  • Picture with Caption

6. How to Edit Slide Layout in PowerPoint?

To edit a slide Layout, you have to use the ‘Slide Master’ view as discussed earlier in the article and follow the simple steps given below.

Step-1: Go to the layout you want to change in the ‘Master Slides’ view

powerpoint presentation slide layout

The first step is to go to the ‘Slide Master’ view in the ‘View’ tab and click on the Layout that you want to edit.

powerpoint presentation slide layout

Now, all you have to do is make the preferred edits in the selected layout. After making the edits, the element of the layout will be changed accordingly in the ‘Layout’ option in the ‘Slides’ section of the ‘Home’ tab and all the slides that are using that layout.

To insert a blank slide layout in PowerPoint, add a new layout and follow the simple steps given below.

Step-1: Select all the elements in the new slide layout

powerpoint presentation slide layout

After inserting a new slide layout, select all the elements that are on the slide layout. You can do that by holding the ‘Left’ mouse button at one corner of the slide and dragging the selector cursor over all the elements of the slide.

Alternatively, you can also ‘left click’ on the elements one by one while holding the ‘Ctrl’ button on your keyboard or click on one of the elements in the slide layout and press the ‘ Ctrl + A ’ buttons on the keyboard of your computer.

Step-2: Delete the elements or object present on the slide

Finally, delete all the elements that you have selected on the new slide layout. You can do that by clicking on the ‘Backspace’ button or the ‘Delete’ button on the keyboard of your computer while keeping all the elements of the new slide layout selected. That way, the new slide layout will be blank.

Step-3: Rename the Slide Layout and Exit Slide Master

The last step is to rename the slide master so that you can easily identify the newly created slide layout in the layout menu. Once that’s done, simply click on “ Close Master View ” to exit the slide master.

How to use and create slide layouts in PowerPoint

In this tutorial we demonstrate how to use and create slide layout designs in PowerPoint.

We also explain why you should consider getting into the habit of using them more often.

What is a slide layout in PowerPoint?

A slide layout design is a pre-configured arrangement of information placeholders on a presentation slide.

This will include placeholders for your title, text, images, and other objects such as charts, tables and footer.

Without maybe realising it, you have already been using layouts in your PowerPoint presentations.

This will have been the Title Slide layout and the Title and Content slide layout that appear as standard when you create a presentation.

image of default slide layouts

However, you may have never ventured past these two slide layouts before and explored the others that are available.

Why should I use slide layouts in PowerPoint?

Using pre-configured layouts in PowerPoint has the benefits of consistency, flexibility and saving time.

Let us look at the benefits of using slide layouts in a bit more detail.

Using slide layouts saves time

Imagine what it would be like to use PowerPoint if every time you created a new slide you were presented with a blank page, and you had to insert all the text boxes you needed manually.

It would slow you down.

Also, imagine if you had a particular non-standard layout in mind for those slides, that would slow you down even further.

There is no doubt that using slide layouts in PowerPoint saves time and allows you to create presentations more efficiently.

Using layouts provides consistency across similar slides

Building on the above point, laying out the elements on each slide individually could cause consistency issues across your slides.

It would be difficult to ensure the placement of titles, images and text boxes where identical across your slides.

This could upset your audience.

I appreciate it’s not as upsetting as a deceased pet, but will drive our OCD colleagues crazy and cause your work to look less professional.

A layout provides the flexibility to change your mind later

I can hear some of you shout “Consistency isn’t an issue for me because I will just duplicate my complicated slide, giving me a nice consistent presentation”.

Yes, that is a half decent approach, and something I was doing for years.

However, duplicating slides prohibits you from enjoying the final benefit of PowerPoint layouts, which is flexibility.

If you use a layout (either a default design or one of your own), you can update that layout in Slide Master at any point during the creation of your presentation.

When you update the layout, it will automatically perform that change on the slides using that layout in your presentation.

So, for example, if you later wish that:

  • Your text boxes were smaller
  • Your images had rounded corners and a thicker border
  • Your titles were a different font and colour

…you can action that across all your affected slides in just a few clicks.

How do I choose and use a slide layout in PowerPoint?

image of choice of layouts

Selecting a slide layout to use is simple.

Select the Layout icon from the Home ribbon.

Choose one of the layouts from the list.

Should I create my own PowerPoint slide layout?

For the most part, many people manage fine using the layouts that come with PowerPoint as standard.

However, it might be time to create your own slide layout if you find yourself repeatedly changing the position of existing layout objects or needing to add new objects (for multiple slides).

How do I create my own PowerPoint slide layout?

1 – enter slide master mode.

Slide Master icon

From the main ribbon go to View , then select Slide Master.

2 – Insert a new layout and rename it

Slide Master Insert layout icon

Click the Insert Layout button.

A new slide will appear.

Rename layout box

Right click on the new layout slide and select Rename Layout.

Rename the slide as something meaningful.

3 – Draw your information placeholder boxes

Insert placeholder menu

Add/draw placeholders by selecting Insert Placeholder from the Slide Master menu.

Note: next to the Insert Placeholder icon you will also find checkboxes to show or hide the Title and Footer placeholders.

Example of a new layout

Be sure to use placeholders and NOT standard text boxes (text boxes create static text that you can’t change without being in Slide Master mode).

4 – Exit Slide Master and use your new slide layout

Close slidemaster icon

Exit Slide Master by clicking Close Master View.

image of new layout choices

Your new layout should be available for selection from the Layout list on the Home ribbon.

PowerPoint Slide Layouts Explained

April 18, 2022

This video will explain the nine common slide layouts available in PowerPoint. In this YouTube channel, I highlight ways to improve your presentation skills and slide design by covering both basic and advanced presentation strategies such as highlighting animation techniques PowerPoint and Apple Keynote and doing reviews of software, books, and trends.

What are Slide Layouts?

Slide layouts are preset content layouts for displaying different types of content like text or images in different ways. Slide layouts are placeholders for text, pictures, charts, icons, SmartArt, tables, or video. When you click the small down arrow next to the new slide button, there are several slide layouts available.

Explain of Each Layout Type

  • 1 The Title Slide is the default slide layout when you start creating a slide deck. The larger text is for the main title and smaller text if for a subtitle.
  • 2 The Title and Content slide layout is the second most common layout used in traditional slide decks. The smaller placeholder at the top is a title and underneath it the placeholder allows you to insert different types of content like text, pictures, charts, icons, SmartArt, tables, or video.
  • 3 The Section Header layout is often used to indicate a change in content or focus. It looks similar to the Title slide layout, but the default dimensions of the placeholder are wider.
  • 4 The Two Content layout is like the Title and Content slide. It allows for two pieces of content to reside next to each other. The content in both placeholders can be similar like a bulleted list or different like a list and picture.
  • 5 The Comparison layout is the same as the Two Content layout with the addition of two placeholders for subtitles or labels.
  • 6 The Title Only layout has just a title placeholder at the top of the slide. This is good is you prefer to use background images as your content.
  • 7 The Blank layout is what the name implies. There are no placeholders for content on the slide. Use this option if you have content different from the options available in the other layouts.
  • 8 The Content with Caption provides a slightly different layout for displaying text and other content like a table or video.
  • 9 The Picture with Caption layout is the same layout as Content with Caption except the placeholder is only for an image. If hope you got value from this video.

And as always, I am curious to hear about your experiences.  What slide layouts do you use most commonly when you are creating a PowerPoint slide deck? Let me know in the comments.

The best PowerPoint Layout Tips and Tricks for your PowerPoint

PowerPoint Layout: Tips & Tricks Plus 6 Modern Ideas for Your Slide Layout!

Shop Banner 2024 EN

A well-designed PowerPoint layout is essential for any presentation. Why? Simple: a visually interesting and coherent slide grabs your audience’s attention and makes you and your content look professional.

A good PowerPoint layout creates a common thread running through your presentation by coordinating design elements. This allows your audience to easily follow the content of your presentations without getting distracted, meaning your ideas come across clearly and you can deliver your message effectively.

Creating a PowerPoint layout is easy, and allows you to customize your presentations to best effect. In this article, we show you which aspects you need to pay attention to in order to guarantee a good slide layout.

PowerPoint Layouts: What exactly do they involve?

A PowerPoint layout basically contains important formatting, placeholders and positioning for your slide content. Using these guidelines, you can easily build a great presentation, inserting the images, text, and charts you need to persuade the audience of your ideas.

PowerPoint slide layouts pull together the design elements which are so important to a coordinated presentation: colors, fonts, backgrounds and effects are preset for you. They can of course be modified individually once you’ve decided on your layout, but setting them leaves you time to concentrate on the content you want to present, rather than fiddling with design. Here is an example of the design elements which might make up a slide:

PowerPoint Layout design elements

Why use a PowerPoint Layout? The advantages

PowerPoint layouts help you build a presentation quickly and easily with preset placeholders, designs and positioning. Because the elements of your slides are already coordinated, you don’t have spend time trying to make your slides look uniformly professional, attempting to line up content perfectly, or messing about trying to balance different elements.

A PowerPoint layout means one thing above else: saving you time. And that‘s a huge advantage: the time you save can now be used to concentrate on the actual content of your presentation.

What’s more, using a preset slide layout makes you look professional. Your slides are coordinated throughout, letting your audience follow the thread of your arguments without getting distracted.

PowerPoint layouts can be really eye-catching, too. Preset designs up the visual impact of your presentations, but allow you to make individual modifications when needed, guaranteeing brand recognition value. Read more about how to do this below!

Creating PowerPoint Layout: Here’s how!

  • Open Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Click Start , then in the Slides group, select Layout .

PowerPoint Layout 1

3. A window will open with a selection of slide layouts.

PowerPoint Layout 2

4. Choose the template which best suits your needs; you can use it as it is or change individual elements (see below).

Modifying a Preset PowerPoint Layout

So you like the layout you’ve chosen, but want to customize it by changing some of the elements? No problem. This is where the Slide Master function in PowerPoint comes in:

1. Select Slide Master in the View tab.

2. When the thumbnail area pops up, select the slide that comes closest to the layout you want.

(Tip: If you don’t like any of the layouts on offer, select Blank and make up your own layout with placeholders, etc. We’ve set out how to do this in the chapter “Nothing in the preset options appeals? Just create your own personal PowerPoint layout!” below.)

3. To change the layout, just read on:

Adding a Placeholder

Simply click Insert Placeholder in the Slide Master tab. Select the type of placeholder you want. Then decide where you want to put it on the layout, and drag the cursor to insert the placeholder.

PowerPoint Layout 3

Resizing a Placeholder

Select the slide on which you want to change the placeholder in the View tab in Slide Master , then click the placeholder. Click on a corner and drag (the cursor will change to a crossed arrow) until the placeholder is the size you want.

Changing a Placeholder’s Position

To move a placeholder, hover the cursor over it. Once the cursor changes to the double arrow, just click and drag to the right place.

Deleting a Placeholder

To remove a placeholder, select Slide Master in the View tab, and click on the slide containing the placeholder you want to remove. Select the placeholder in the layout and then press delete.

Rotating a Placeholder

Click on the placeholder; an arrow curving round in a circle will appear at the top.  Just click on that and drag it round to rotate the element any way you want.

Bring particular elements into the foreground, or send them to the background

Right-click on the element you want to highlight or mute, and a drop-down menu will open. Select either Bring to Front or Send to Back , and save.

PowerPoint Layout 4

When you’ve made the changes you want, click Close Master View in the Slide Master tab.

PowerPoint Layout 5

  • In Normal view, in the Thumbnails pane, select all the slides you’ve just revised. (To select multiple slides, hold down Ctrl and click to select the slides you want.)
  • Next, select Layout from the Home tab and select the layout containing the placeholders you just changed. This step finalizes the placeholder change by re-inserting the changed slide layout onto a final edited slide.

Duplicating a PowerPoint Layout

Once you’ve got a slide layout exactly to your liking, it’s easy to duplicate it so that you can use the same layout on multiple slides. This also applies to preset slide layouts, of course. Here’s how: In the View tab, click on the Normal option:

PowerPoint Layout 6

  • An overview of all your slides will now appear on the left. Right-click the slide whose layout you want to duplicate.
  • Then select Duplicate Slide in the menu that opens. A slide with an identical layout will appear.

PowerPoint Layout 7

Nothing in the Preset Options Appeals? Just create Your Own Personal PowerPoint Layout!

So you already know that using the preset slide layouts saves time and allows you to modify where needed, you really don’t like any of the preset slide layouts. No worries – you can create a custom layout that’s exactly what you need in just a few steps:

  • Select Slide Master in the View tab.
  • Slides with suggested layouts will now appear on the left.

PowerPoint Layout 8

  • Right-click on any of the options (don’t worry about it not being what you want; you can change what you need later) and select Insert Layout, or click on Insert Layout from the menu at the top.

PowerPoint Layout 9

  • Renaming the layout helps you to keep track and to find it later. To do this, right-click it again and select Rename Layout , then type in the new name.

PowerPoint Layout 10

  • Now you can start editing. Delete all the preset placeholders if you don’t want them, or leave some in and edit them (see above) – it’s up to you.
  • Insert the placeholders you want for your layout using the Insert Placeholders option. You can choose text, content, chart, or other layouts in the drop-down menu. After selecting a layout, drag the placeholder to the position you need. You can rotate it, resize it and edit it as shown in the paragraph “Modifying a preset PowerPoint layout” above.

Professional Design for Your Slide Layout: 6 PowerPoint Layout Ideas that will make Your Presentation a Real Eye-Catcher!

Persuading your audience of your ideas, so achieving your goals, and really standing out with your presentation, is so much easier with an excellent layout.  We’ve put together six professionally designed and effective PowerPoint layout ideas for you, illustrated with reference pictures of slides we’ve designed for clients:

1.      PowerPoint Layouts for Title Slides

Every presentation needs a title slide. Since this slide is always the first slide you present, and so the first slide that your audience sees – often as soon as they enter the presentation room – you need to design this slide for maximum impact.

In 2022, the trend for title slides is toward large-format images. When selecting your background image, be sure to choose one that will appeal to your audience right from the get-go. For example, go for a theme related to your topic or business. In this example, the steering wheel motif is appropriate for the automotive group GG:

PowerPoint Layout Overlay Example 5

Using large-format images doesn‘t mean missing out on a powerful headline.  This needs to stand out.

So either use an area of your image that is neutral, or opt for modern overlays or transparent designs. With the latter you bring some color into play, so you need to adjust the contrast to the background image to make your headline stand out effectively. Here are some examples:

PowerPoint Layout Overlay Example 4

Using overlays or transparent design allows you to create just the slide you need. You can use color gradients (see the GG Group title slide above), whole areas (see the Uni Per slide) or shapes (below). How you compose the slide that’s right for your presentation is completely up to you.

2.    PowerPoint Layouts for Agenda Slides

Your agenda slide reflects the content of your presentation and so it’s important to get it right. Info and tips about these in PowerPoint can be found in this article .

Agenda slide layouts can either be structured traditionally as a tabulated list, or presented as a process. Large-format images can make an impact here, too. You can use them either in portrait format or as a complete background. It‘s important to leave enough space to get your agenda points over. You can also use a grid as a guide for agenda layouts. To do this, take a look at the slide below. Here you see a three-part grid: 1/3 space for the agenda items, 2/3 space for the picture. (Or, for agendas with more points, in reverse (i.e. 1/3 image and 2/3 agenda).

PowerPoint Layout agenda example

There’s also the option of a quad grid, as below:

PowerPoint Layout Agenda Example 4

This shows eight equally sized image boxes, going from left to right, in two rows. Obviously, you can customize the background image and layout to your exact needs.

3.      PowerPoint Layouts for Slides combining Images and Text

Layouts for image-text combinations are especially important in the body of your presentation. These can include bulleted lists, product presentations or even portfolios. What’s important here is how image and text interact within the slide.

One classic layout which works well is an image with your text underneath. An interesting modern variant on this is to put several images alongside each other, as below:

PowerPoint Layout Images and Text Example

Using large-format images can be really fresh and impactful. For example:

PowerPoint Layout Example 2 Images and Text

You can also use a grid as a guide for image-text combinations. In general, this works best with a three, four or five images. Using more than that means your slide will look cluttered and your content will be difficult to read.

PowerPoint Layout Images and Text three images

4. PowerPoint Layouts for a Combination of Icons and Text

Icons are a great way to illustrate complex content in a simple way. They also add impact to your presentation and are visually interesting. We offer a wide selection of icon templates in our store. Here are a couple of examples:

Agenda Icons PowerPoint Layout

In general, layouts combining icons and text work well with layouts similar to those used in image-text combinations. PowerPoint lets you place icons in gridded or non-gridded combinations, with their text by them. Here are some examples:

PowerPoint Layout Text Icons Example

5.      PowerPoint Layouts for Lists

When you want to present lists of items, bullet points are of course the classic choice, but increasingly people are choosing to visualize them as a process form, right up-to-date and attention-grabbing. The layout below, visualizing the process from left to right, makes your list easily comprehensible.

PowerPoint Layout List Example

For this type of layout, use the entire width of the slide for maximum impact.

You can also make great use of a circular form; more and more people are moving away from the old rectangular box.

PowerPoint Layout List Example 3

6.      Further Options for Image/Text Layouts

We’ve already covered image-text layouts above, but here are a few more ideas to make your presentations get noticed.

Option 1: Text on the left, image on the right

This option is a classic layout, as it works with the fact that English is read from left to right.  So your audience grasps the content first, then it’s reinforced by the image. This also makes your text easier to read, as the lines are shorter.

PowerPoint Layout Options Text Image

Option 2: Image on the left, text on the right

PowerPoint Layout Option Text Image 2

Option 3: Text above, large-scale image below

PowerPoint Layout Text Image Option 3

Option 4: Full-format image, with overlays

You’ve seen above how much of an impact this can make with title slides, and of course there’s nothing stopping you using a layout like this within your presentation. It’s always important to make sure that the colour and contrast of the text is chosen with the image in mind, so that can be read easily. Here are some examples:

PowerPoint Layout Text Image options 4

Conclusion: A Great PowerPoint Layout can Really Support Your Content!

If you want to create a really professional and effective presentation, it pays to try modern layouts that will grab your audience’s attention.   You have free rein to be as creative as you like, but do remember – especially with image-text combinations – to contrast your text properly with any images or icons, for maximum legibility.

Why not try a change of layout for your next presentation? We at PresentationLoad offer a whole range of slide templates to help you create a really impactful presentation in just a few clicks.

7 Tips & Learnings from the Apple Keynote

l’Agence Powerpoint

  • Different types of slide layout in PowerPoint

Whether you’re getting ready to perform a new hire training, report financials, bidding or conduct an end of the year summary, let PowerPoint join your team.

PowerPoint layouts make it possible to organize and host important data and information the company wants to share with its employees and partners. In other words, a Powerpoint presentation reflects the identity and image of the company, hence the importance of creating a clear, organized and aesthetic slideshow that communicates your message in a professional way.

PowerPoint business uses

A Powerpoint layout is essential for all companies (large groups, ETI, SME, TPE) with more than 10 powerpoint users.

For example:

  • Companies with many sales reps having to match presentations to their customers.
  • Companies that respond to a call of tender via powerpoint support.
  • Companies where internal presentations are part of everyday life (training, project monitoring, financial reporting)

The benefits of creating PowerPoint layouts?

A properly constructed Powerpoint layout allows you and your team to keep a consistent look in all your presentations, simply and quickly. Powerpoint layouts are simply “ready-to-use” slide templates, combining different fixed objects and pre-defined editable elements.

In addition to being a great communication asset, a Powerpoint layout has many technical advantages:

• Respecting the company’s identity through a personalised and balanced artistic direction • Consistency and clarity of the entire presentation in accordance with a predefined and automated graphic chart • Ease and speed of work for all your employees who can put their energy where it counts, on basic data and information, instead of worrying about configuration

Whether it’s a simple slide-centered title or a complex combination of text fields, pictures and graphics, PowerPoint layouts are very effective tools. Here are some layouts to help you build your arsenal of reusable slides within your company.

Title Slide layout

powerpoint presentation slide layout

The title slide layout is very important. It is a preview of the upcoming content for the rest of your presentation. Quality cover shows your audience how carefully your project has been handled. The most obvious benefit of using a title slide is informing listeners of what they will see and learn. Consider a title slide as a cover of a book or report. The cover mask gives the tone, the graphic chart and the artistic direction of the slideshow.

In a title slide layout the editable parts are usually the background image, the title, subtitle and some optional elements such as the date, or the name of the presenter.

Table of content Slide Layout

powerpoint presentation slide layout

A table of contents will give your audience an overview of your Powerpoint presentation. It must be clear and precise in order to facilitate the general understanding of the subject.

The editable elements of a Summary slide layout are the titles of the different parts of your presentation as well as the number of the corresponding pages. Even though the table of contents is at the beginning of the slideshow, it will be the last one written.

Tip: Do not add a page number until you have finalized your presentation.

Simple Text Content Slide layout

powerpoint presentation slide layout

Simple Content slide layout includes the title of the slide, a subtitle, and a central text box. All these elements are editable.

Two Text Content Slide layout

powerpoint presentation slide layout

The twocontent slide layout is a variant of the previous mask. The main advantage of dividing the text into two blocks is to make reading more smooth and enjoyable, especially if the text is long.

The editable elements are the title, a possible subtitle and the two text blocks.

Content Slide layout [Text + Picture]

powerpoint presentation slide layout

The Content [Text + Picture] slide layout offers a design that allows you to insert text and an image in 2 spaces reserved for this purpose. This type of mask can be declined in several variants with a horizontal or vertical permutation of the boxes.

The editable elements are the title, the possible subtitle, the body of the text and of course the image.

Content Slaide layout [Texts + Pictures]

powerpoint presentation slide layout

This layout is an extension of the previous one that allows to insert several texts and several images on the same slide. There can be different variations, with 3 boxes or more, with horizontal or vertical permutations.

The editable elements are the title, the possible subtitle, the body of the text and the images.

Impact Message Slide Layout

How to Use PowerPoint Slide Master Layouts

Use the Slide Master to effect a uniform appearance for your presentation

  • Brock University

What to Know

  • Go to View > Slide Master and select the top thumbnail in the Slide pane. Use the Slide Master tab to change colors, fonts, and more.
  • Use the Slides pane to choose a slide layout thumbnail and make changes to the layout master.
  • When you're done making changes, select Slide Master > Close Master View to return to your presentation.

To ensure that all the slides in your PowerPoint presentation have the same look, use the Slide Master. Apply fonts and styles, add multimedia, and insert footnotes. These instructions apply to PowerPoint 2019, 2016, and 2013; PowerPoint for Microsoft 365; and PowerPoint for Mac.

Access the PowerPoint Slide Master

The PowerPoint Slide Master is like a style sheet for your presentations. Changes made to the Slide Master apply to the slides that are created after you format the Slide Master.

To access the Slide Master in a PowerPoint presentation, select View > Slide Master .

Change the Layout in the Slide Master

The Slide Master view contains all the slide layouts used in PowerPoint. The Slides pane displays thumbnail images of the slide master (the top thumbnail image) and the related slide layouts (the smaller thumbnail images located below the slide master).

Changing the font on the slide master affects the text placeholders on all slides. However, not all placeholders are affected by changes made to the slide master. You may need to make additional changes to the different slide layouts.

Make changes to the Slide Master before you create a presentation. If you change the font style or color on a slide before you edit the slide master and slide layouts, the formatting is retained on those slides.

To make changes in the Slide Master:

Select the slide master. It's the top thumbnail in the Slide pane.

Go to the Slide Master tab to change the theme, theme colors, fonts, and background for the entire presentation.

In the Slides pane, select a slide layout thumbnail and make changes to the layout master, if needed.

Close the PowerPoint Slide Master

After you've made all your changes to the slide master, select Slide Master > Close Master View to return to the presentation slides.

Each new slide you add to the presentation takes on the changes you made. You'll save time by not having to make edits to every individual slide. Your presentation will have a uniform and professional look.

Slide Layouts in PowerPoint

powerpoint presentation slide layout

PowerPoint slide layouts allow you to quickly create professional slides with a predefined structure. Instead of inserting placeholders and formatting each slide individually, you can use layouts to save time and ensure consistency across your presentation. This guide covers everything you need to know about slide layouts in PowerPoint.

What Are Slide Layouts?

Slide layouts are pre-designed slide templates that come built into PowerPoint. They contain placeholder boxes for things like:

  • Bulleted lists
  • Charts/graphs

The placeholders serve as content containers that you can easily replace with your own information. Layouts streamline the slide creation process so you don’t have to format each slide from scratch. They also provide structure and ensure a clean, consistent look across your deck.

Benefits of Using Layouts

  • Save time – Simply drag in your content instead of manually adding placeholders and formatting
  • Enforce consistency – Layouts make your slides look cohesive and professionally designed
  • Focus on content – With the design work done, you can concentrate on creating great slides

Types of Built-In Layouts

PowerPoint offers several preset layouts to choose from. The most common ones include:

Title Slide

The title slide features a large title placeholder at the top with a subtitle and text box below. It’s perfect for the first slide to introduce your presentation.

Section Header

This layout contains a title placeholder at the top with a subtitle and text box underneath. It visually separates sections within your deck.

Two Content

Includes a title at the top with two content boxes side-by-side below that fit text, images, charts and more.

Displays a title, followed by two columns with content placeholders side-by-side for making comparisons.

As the name suggests, this layout contains no pre-formatted placeholders, allowing you to create a custom slide from scratch.

There are also many content-specific layouts like Picture with Caption , Quote with Caption , Agenda , and more. Browse the layouts gallery in PowerPoint to see all available options.

Creating a New Slide with a Layout

Applying a slide layout in PowerPoint is simple:

  • Navigate to the Home tab
  • Click New Slide (or press Ctrl + M)
  • Hover over the layout thumbnails and select your desired template

A new slide will be inserted into your deck with the chosen layout applied.

You can now click into the placeholder boxes and insert your own content like text, visuals, tables, and more. The slide will take on the look and feel designed by the layout.

Customizing Layouts

While PowerPoint’s default layouts cover most basic needs, you may want to modify them or create new custom layouts. Here are some customization tips:

  • Edit Layout Placeholders – Select the layout from the thumbnail pane, click into any placeholder, and edit properties like size, color, borders, effects and more
  • Delete Layout Elements – Select any layout box and hit delete to remove unnecessary placeholders
  • Reset Layout – Select the layout from the thumbnails, go to the Layout tab, and choose Reset to restore the default placeholders
  • Select a slide with a structure you want to reuse
  • Go to the View tab and choose Save as Layout
  • Give your layout a name and save

Saved custom layouts will appear in the layout thumbnail pane for easy access later.

Layout Design Tips

Making the most out of PowerPoint layouts involves following some fundamental slide design principles:

  • Prioritize key information – Ensure titles and headings stand out
  • Align elements – Line up objects, text, and sections
  • Use white space – Don’t overcrowd the slide; leave breathing room
  • Maintain cleanliness – Avoid clutter with unnecessary decoration
  • Be consistent – Stick to one or two fonts, limit text colors, standardize layouts

If applying your brand style guide, make sure layout elements like colors, fonts, effects, etc. align with branding rules.

Example Slide Layouts

Here are a few layout examples that demonstrate some best practices:

Title Slide Layout

![Title slide layout with large bold title at top, subtitle below, and company logo in bottom corner]

This title slide layout draws attention to the main message up front. The subtitle adds supporting details. The logo builds brand awareness.

Comparison Layout

![Comparison layout with title at top and two content columns below with callout icons]

The comparison layout allows you to show contrasting information side-by-side. Icons draw attention to key differentiators in each column.

Agenda Layout

![Agenda layout with title and timeline graphic showing schedule of events]

The agenda layout clearly conveys the sequence of events or topics that will be covered. The visual timeline sets expectations up front.

In summary, leveraging PowerPoint’s preset slide layouts can help you build professional presentations faster. Taking advantage of their visual organization and structure frees you up to focus on creating killer slides with great content.

With a library of layouts to choose from, the ability to customize, and some fundamental design principles, you can produce sleek, modern slides sure to impress your audience.

20 Great Examples of PowerPoint Presentation Design [+ Templates]

Carly Williams

Published: January 17, 2024

When it comes to PowerPoint presentation design, there's no shortage of avenues you can take.

PowerPoint presentation examples graphic with computer monitor, person holding a megaphone, and a plant to signify growth.

While all that choice — colors, formats, visuals, fonts — can feel liberating, it‘s important that you’re careful in your selection as not all design combinations add up to success.

In this blog post, I’m sharing some of my favorite PowerPoint tips and templates to help you nail your next presentation.

What makes a good PowerPoint presentation?

Powerpoint design ideas, best powerpoint presentation slides, good examples of powerpoint presentation design.

In my opinion, a great PowerPoint presentation gets the point across succinctly while using a design that doesn't detract from it.

Here are some of the elements I like to keep in mind when I’m building my own.

1. Minimal Animations and Transitions

Believe it or not, animations and transitions can take away from your PowerPoint presentation. Why? Well, they distract from the content you worked so hard on.

A good PowerPoint presentation keeps the focus on your argument by keeping animations and transitions to a minimum. I suggest using them tastefully and sparingly to emphasize a point or bring attention to a certain part of an image.

2. Cohesive Color Palette

I like to refresh my memory on color theory when creating a new PowerPoint presentation.

A cohesive color palette uses complementary and analogous colors to draw the audience’s attention and help emphasize certain aspects at the right time.

It‘s impossible for me to tell you the specific design ideas you should go after in your next PowerPoint, because, well, I don’t know what the goal of your presentation is.

Luckily, new versions of PowerPoint actually suggest ideas for you based on the content you're presenting. This can help you keep up with the latest trends in presentation design .

PowerPoint is filled with interesting boilerplate designs you can start with. To find these suggestions, open PowerPoint and click the “Design” tab in your top navigation bar. Then, on the far right side, you'll see the following choices:

powerpoint presentation slide layout

This simplistic presentation example employs several different colors and font weights, but instead of coming off as disconnected, the varied colors work with one another to create contrast and call out specific concepts.

What I like: The big, bold numbers help set the reader's expectations, as they clearly signify how far along the viewer is in the list of tips.

10. “Pixar's 22 Rules to Phenomenal Storytelling,” Gavin McMahon

This presentation by Gavin McMahon features color in all the right places. While each of the background images boasts a bright, spotlight-like design, all the characters are intentionally blacked out.

What I like: This helps keep the focus on the tips, while still incorporating visuals. Not to mention, it's still easy for me to identify each character without the details. (I found you on slide eight, Nemo.)

11. “Facebook Engagement and Activity Report,” We Are Social

Here's another great example of data visualization in the wild.

What I like: Rather than displaying numbers and statistics straight up, this presentation calls upon interesting, colorful graphs, and charts to present the information in a way that just makes sense.

12. “The GaryVee Content Model,” Gary Vaynerchuk

This wouldn‘t be a true Gary Vaynerchuk presentation if it wasn’t a little loud, am I right?

What I like: Aside from the fact that I love the eye-catching, bright yellow background, Vaynerchuk does a great job of incorporating screenshots on each slide to create a visual tutorial that coincides with the tips. He also does a great job including a visual table of contents that shows your progress as you go .

13. “20 Tweetable Quotes to Inspire Marketing & Design Creative Genius,” IMPACT Branding & Design

We‘ve all seen our fair share of quote-chronicling presentations but that isn’t to say they were all done well. Often the background images are poor quality, the text is too small, or there isn't enough contrast.

Well, this professional presentation from IMPACT Branding & Design suffers from none of said challenges.

What I like: The colorful filters over each background image create just enough contrast for the quotes to stand out.

14. “The Great State of Design,” Stacy Kvernmo

This presentation offers up a lot of information in a way that doesn't feel overwhelming.

What I like: The contrasting colors create visual interest and “pop,” and the comic images (slides 6 through 12) are used to make the information seem less buttoned-up and overwhelming.

15. “Clickbait: A Guide To Writing Un-Ignorable Headlines,” Ethos3

Not going to lie, it was the title that convinced me to click through to this presentation but the awesome design kept me there once I arrived.

What I like: This simple design adheres to a consistent color pattern and leverages bullet points and varied fonts to break up the text nicely.

16. “Digital Transformation in 50 Soundbites,” Julie Dodd

This design highlights a great alternative to the “text-over-image” display we've grown used to seeing.

What I like: By leveraging a split-screen approach to each presentation slide, Julie Dodd was able to serve up a clean, legible quote without sacrificing the power of a strong visual.

17. “Fix Your Really Bad PowerPoint,” Slide Comet

When you‘re creating a PowerPoint about how everyone’s PowerPoints stink, yours had better be terrific. The one above, based on the ebook by Seth Godin, keeps it simple without boring its audience.

What I like: Its clever combinations of fonts, together with consistent color across each slide, ensure you're neither overwhelmed nor unengaged.

18. “How Google Works,” Eric Schmidt

Simple, clever doodles tell the story of Google in a fun and creative way. This presentation reads almost like a storybook, making it easy to move from one slide to the next.

What I like: This uncluttered approach provides viewers with an easy-to-understand explanation of a complicated topic.

19. “What Really Differentiates the Best Content Marketers From The Rest,” Ross Simmonds

Let‘s be honest: These graphics are hard not to love. I especially appreciate the author’s cartoonified self-portrait that closes out the presentation. Well played, Ross Simmonds.

What I like: Rather than employing the same old stock photos, this unique design serves as a refreshing way to present information that's both valuable and fun.

20. “Be A Great Product Leader,” Adam Nash

This presentation by Adam Nash immediately draws attention by putting the company's logo first — a great move if your company is well known.

What I like: He uses popular images, such as ones of Megatron and Pinocchio, to drive his points home. In the same way, you can take advantage of popular images and media to keep your audience engaged.

PowerPoint Presentation Examples for the Best Slide Presentation

Mastering a PowerPoint presentation begins with the design itself.

Get inspired by my ideas above to create a presentation that engages your audience, builds upon your point, and helps you generate leads for your brand.

You can also select another idea from the pane or go back to your original slide design: Press ⌘+Z to undo a design change you've just selected.

SmartArt graphics

Designer can turn text such as lists, processes, or timelines into an easily readable SmartArt graphic.

If you don't want Designer to offer suggestions:

On the PowerPoint menu, select Preferences .

Under Authoring and Proofing Tools , select General .

In the General dialog box, under PowerPoint Designer , clear the Automatically show me design ideas check box.

Troubleshooting.

  • Which problem are you having?
  • I don't see the Designer button
  • I clicked the Designer button, but no suggestions are offered

Design ideas are only available to Microsoft 365 subscribers

On desktop versions of PowerPoint, only subscribers get design ideas. You can try or buy a subscription here .

On PowerPoint for the web, design ideas are available to everyone.

One Microsoft 365 subscription package doesn't include design ideas: Office 365 Germany Germany .

Turn on the Office connected experiences

To use Designer, make sure that Office "connected experiences" are turned on:

Go to File > Account , and under Account Privacy select Manage Settings .

The Account panel showing the Account Privacy, Manage Settings button

See Enabling and disabling intelligent services for more information.

An administrator may have turned off Designer

Designer is a feature for Microsoft 365 subscribers, but some organizations turn off the feature. If you have an Microsoft 365 subscription but don't see the Designer button, ask your IT department.

Reinstall Office to get subscriber features

If you've upgraded from Office to an Microsoft 365 subscription, you need to uninstall Office and then reinstall in order to get the subscriber features. See the instructions in these articles:

Uninstall Office from a PC or Uninstall Office 2016 for Mac

Reinstall Microsoft 365

Restart the app to get Designer

Sometimes users find that the first time they start PowerPoint after installing Microsoft 365, the Designer button isn't available. Restarting the app fixes this problem.

If there are no design ideas available for you, a few things might be the cause. First of all:

Make sure you're connected to the Internet. Designer goes online to get its design ideas.

Use a theme that comes with PowerPoint (not a custom theme or one that you've downloaded from elsewhere).

Following are other problems and how to solve them:

No design ideas for slides with pictures

Make sure your slide has either the Title or Title + Content slide layout applied.

Don't use any additional objects or shapes on the same slide as your photo.

Use a maximum of four photos (.jpg, .png, .gif, or .bmp) per slide, and make sure they're larger than 200 x 200 pixels in size.

No design ideas for process-based slides

Make sure your slide has the Title + Content slide layout applied.

Don't use any additional photos, objects, or shapes on the same slide as your process text.

Because Designer is a relatively new service, it is still learning new tricks. If Designer can’t generate high-quality options for you, it won’t show any options at all. We're working hard to be able to generate great design ideas for more varieties of your content.

And of course, if you don’t find Designer useful, you can turn it off by going to File > Options > General , and then clearing the box that says Automatically show me design ideas .

Someone else is editing

No design ideas for slides that have shapes or text boxes.

Designer isn't able to suggest design ideas when a slide has a shape or text box drawn on it. You can have photos and you can have text in a placeholder.

You aren't connected to the internet , or

A single slide isn't selected . This can be the case when multiple slides are selected in the slide thumbnail pane in Normal view, or when the focus in the thumbnail pane is between two slides. It also is the case when the focus is in the Notes pane or you are in Slide Show view rather than Normal view.

Our top Microsoft PowerPoint templates for a perfect presentation

O ne of the most popular presentation tools, Microsoft PowerPoint, offers a range of design templates with varied colors, visuals, fonts, and formats to help you create visually appealing slides quickly. If you want to create presentations that leave a lasting impression, we put together a list of templates you can try when working on your favorite tablet or laptop.

PowerPoint templates for professional and personal use

The template you choose should mirror the message you want to convey. It should take away from the presentation or overshadow it. Listed below are a few aesthetic Microsoft PowerPoint templates that you can use for different purposes.

Proposal presentation template

This whitepaper proposal presentation template is ideal for presenting professional reports highlighting your company's growth or key events. The base template has seven slides, which include editable icons and infographics.

You can use the template as is or add more slides to accommodate additional photos, animations, and videos. The template uses a clean and professional font, and you can customize it to suit your company's branding style and guidelines.

What's the difference between Microsoft PowerPoint templates and themes?

Pitch deck template.

This PowerPoint pitch deck template includes 20 slides. It can help you tell your brand's story to potential investors. It features a modern design and plenty of slides to showcase your brand's business model, the market opportunity for your business, competitor analysis, and a two-year action plan. It also includes slides you can use to introduce key team members to potential investors.

Since it has futuristic elements, this template is best used by technology startups, innovative businesses, and firms presenting technology-forward solutions or business ideas.

Personal portfolio

If you're a creative professional and want to showcase your projects, you're likely looking to create a portfolio. This photography portfolio template , which has a modern and simplistic design, is a great option.

The template lets you present your work through a minimalist template that is vibrant and aesthetic. It succeeds in keeping attention on your photographs. This template is primarily used for photographs. However, you can customize it to showcase other creative projects, like video editing reels or graphic design work.

The template also includes a Services page that you can use to detail the types of services you offer. Use this page to describe your professional abilities and the unique skills you bring to the table.

Trip planner

If you're planning a trip with your family or friends and want to create a presentation to share your travel details, this trip planner template is a great choice. This well-designed template includes eight slides. The user-friendly layout helps you detail your itinerary, planned activities, accommodation arrangements, and budget. There's also a mood board slide you can use to add images that capture the essence of your trip.

This standard template is an easy way to share broader travel plans with your group. You can customize it by adding maps, videos that your travel companions can refer to, and a detailed day-by-day agenda. A presentation like this is a great way to coordinate your travel details with a larger group so that everyone is on the same page.

It has 12 slides, including an introductory slide, six slides to cover the training modules, a summary slide, and a final slide for the assessment and evaluation.

If your training is longer, you can modify the template by adding as many slides as needed. You can also include images, videos, and infographics to make your presentation more impactful.

The best Microsoft PowerPoint templates to keep you happy, healthy, and organized

Mind map presentation.

Mind maps are an excellent way to brainstorm, allowing you to detail your ideas visually without sticking to a specific format. You can turn a project that would otherwise include a long list of to-dos into a visually engaging web of interconnected tasks or concepts. If you want to try this method of brainstorming for a personal or professional project, a mind map template is what you need.

How to pick the best template

Choosing the right template is key to creating an effective presentation. While the right template can enhance the impact and readability of your content, the wrong one can be jarring and reduce audience engagement.

When choosing a template for your presentation, consider factors like the color scheme, the format, the graphics and imagery used, and the font style and size.

You should also assess whether the template is appropriate for the message you share through the presentation. For instance, if you're creating a business proposal, don't select a template with contrasting colors and a less formal layout. Additionally, to deliver a professional-looking presentation, maintain a consistent PowerPoint theme .

2 Ways to Create Comparison Slides in PowerPoint

2 Ways to Create Comparison Slides in PowerPoint

Table of Contents

Do your PowerPoint slides look dull and flat when making comparisons? Crafting compelling and informative comparison slides is crucial to differentiate your ideas, products, or services from competitors.

With the right layouts and techniques, you can create beautiful and engaging comparison slides to wow any audience. An effective comparison slide can help highlight unique attributes and make analytical points clearer for your audience.

But that doesn’t mean you need to know design. All you need is the PowerPoint comparison slide feature. In this beginner’s guide, we’ll walk you through two simple ways to create clean and professional comparison slides in PowerPoint. Let’s get started!

What Is A Comparison Slide In Powerpoint?

Comparison slides enable visually contrasting two or more elements side-by-side within a single slide. Rather than walls of text, comparisons are structured into columns to showcase data, features, and factors together.

Comparison slides allow presenters to evaluate two or more objects, concepts, solutions, etc. side-by-side within a single PowerPoint slide. They help organize similarities and differences visually through text, data, images, and other multimedia formats.

These slides are highly effective for:

  • Comparing products by features to highlight competitive advantages .
  • Analyzing research results through digestible side-by-side data.
  • Weighing the pros and cons of solutions for clearer decision-making.
  • Drawing comparisons between disparate topics to reveal relationships.
  • Emphasizing differences and aligning similarities for convincing arguments.
  • Adding visual variety to text-heavy slides for sustained interest.

Overall, PowerPoint comparison slides structure complex information in an easy-to-grasp format. Audiences can absorb logical comparisons at a glance. This drives home your point and influences understanding and decisions.

What Is The Purpose Of The Comparison Slide Layout?

Here are some top reasons why incorporating comparison slides into your PowerPoint presentations can be effective:

  • Simplifying complex data like statistical analyses, technical specifications, etc. into easy-to-grasp components.
  • Influencing purchase decisions by using comparison to highlight competitive advantages over alternatives.
  • Visualizing connections between disparate concepts or products to enhance understanding.
  • Underscoring key differences between solutions through targeted side-by-side analysis.
  • Holding the audience’s attention by incorporating graphical and visually engaging comparison layouts.
  • Enhancing memorability as comparisons helps reinforce core points and differences.

How To Make A Comparison Slide In Powerpoint?

There are two easy ways to design effective comparison slides in PowerPoint.

Create Using Built-in Comparison Layout

The easiest way is to use PowerPoint’s pre-designed “Comparison” layout template. Here’s how to do it.

Step 1: Go to the “Home” tab and click on “New Slide”

Go to the “Home” tab and click on “New Slide”

Step 2: Go to the “Layout” and select the “Comparison” template or layout from the options. The content placeholder will be split into two default columns for your data.

layout from the options

Step 4: Add and customize your desired titles, subtitles, text, images, etc. You can use a text block to add your text. Use bullet points to make your text clean. Adjust column widths if needed. You can add colors, borders, etc. for emphasis.

Add and customize your desired titles, subtitles, text, images, etc

How Do You Insert A Comparison Table In PPT?

Do you have some statistics and other data that you would like to present? You can insert a comparison table in PowerPoint with the desired number of columns and rows. This method works well if you have lots of detailed data to compare side-by-side.

Here’s how to add it:

Step 1: Go to the “Insert” menu and click on “Table”.

Go to the “Insert” menu and click on “Table”

Step 2: Under “Insert Table”, pick the number of columns and rows.

Under “Insert Table”, pick the number of columns and rows

Step 3: Populate the cells with your comparison data – be it text, numbers, checkmarks, or even emojis! Be creative.

Step 4: Apply colors, borders, and shading to organize the content. You can further modify the table properties to merge cells, alter the design, include total rows or columns, apply cell borders and styles, etc.
